(BUG) Affinity isnt working with any companion
There is a bug in Fallout 4 that makes affinity not work correctly. You can not increase or decrease affinity with any companion and you will not get a message for it either, example: "codsworth loved that".

I have tried to find a fix for it but the only way to fix it is to go back to an older save, but this is not possible for me since i played such a long time on my character. This is a well known bug that can happened on all platforms, both modded and unmodded games.

Increasing affinity via console will not trigger the companion quests so this is not an option. I have all DLCs.

If anyone find a fix or have any suggestion, please help!

You know there's a cooldown for affinity changes, right? Prevents you from just spamming affinity to max instantly. Are you not able to increase or decrease it at ALL?

Im not able to decrease or increase affinity at all.
For example, I have used Curie for a very long time but her affinity is stuck at 0.

That is not an extant vanilla bug. Might be left over from a mod or console command. Check the FO4 Unofficial Patch Notes for real bugs and their nature,

You might be right but i belive i read somewhere that this bug has happened to people that have never used mods, i might be wrong though. I have read many threads about this bug so my memory is a bit fuzzy.

Yeah sorry bud, the only suggested solutions I could find were "reload a save" and "download the unofficial Fallout 4 community patch."

Or you can always set affinity to 1000 and setstage in the console to do the quests if you don't mind cheating, I guess.

I've read trough the fixes for the "Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch" mod but nowhere does it say anything about fixing affinity. I have also had this mod installed even before this bug started.

I knew that you could set the affinity value but not that you could trigger the quest with console commands. I will try the console thing you said, thanks!

I've had that happen with Danse in a few playthroughs.

It worked, thank you so much! Curie is now a synth

I came a little late but the console commands don't work. I put to 1000, and always returns in the value of 999. Not only with that, but also with my HP, that is always 1 point less

Some companions have a limit to their affinity, and can not go beyond that until their quest is completed.

Thank you for answering me! What quest would be? Danse is my companion. There is a quest that I had from him the first time that I met him. The thing is that it got bugged because I did the mission that after completed the Brotherhood of Steel appears with the Prydwen and when I wanted to talk to him to finish the quest, he just told me to go to Prydwen and then he became my companion. Do you think that's the quest? Or there is another quest?

No, Danse's personal quest comes later in the Brotherhood questline. Spoilers, just in case: The Brotherhood finds out Danse is a synth, and orders you to kill him. If you convince Maxson to let him live, Danse leaves the Brotherhood and you can then max out his affinity and get his perk.)

The quest you are talking about is the one to locate the lost patrol. That one can be turned in to Danse if you complete it before the Prydwen arrives, or switches to being turn in to Kells after the Brotherhood arrives.

Thank you very much! Don't worry about the spoiler, I've playes Fallout 4 a long time ago and I know what happens, but the thing is that I wanted to repeat that, and I thought that I would trigger that event when I had a high level of affinity. I'll try to finish the "Lost patrol" quest, the thing is that it didn't swith to Kells... but I'll see what I can do
