It's areally cool weapon, but not without issues. There's some sound problems in 3rd person, the weapon has no reload animation (Neither did the original BFG anyway so I don't know what reference point is fair here) and the weapon has no suite of modifications available to it, such as sights, scopes or whatnot. It's certainly not worth $4 USD, but it's better than the free alternatives on an objective level.
It doesn't use a Raytrace damage spread like the Original Doom BFG, so you're not going to kill everything on screen, but it's still probably the funnest energy weapon in the game.
