Ok firstly, I read the wikia already. It tells you finite sources of lead. I'm asking for reliable sources that other players might use. Responding like you did adds nothing and just makes you look like an ass. Of course I googled it. But this is a forum for fallout 4 players and I wanted to ask other players what they do for lead.

I don't waste time making ammo, I just buy in bulk and get back to playing. If you want a lot of lead at once, either buy a shipment from a vendor or use the console. Otherwise you're going to be picking up a lot of pencils.

Gyms tend to have lots of lead weights making a great windfall source. There are several around, but the only location I remember for sure is the robot boxing gym in the General Atomics Galleria. I know there is at least one gym downtown as well, but I forget where. Otherwise, there are a few oddball gyms you can stumble around.

So you didn't actually read the page, because it explicitly lists the following infinite sources:
"Shipments of lead can be purchased from KL-E-0 in Goodneighbor, Tinker Tom in Railroad HQ, Cricket and Deb in Bunker Hill."

Shipments are 100% obvious. I already stated I was asking other players how they prefer to get their lead. Jesus christ, you guys that patrol this forum are dense

Shipments are honestly the best way IMO. Beyond that always do a quick check of desks when you're in an office, both the contanier portion and what's on top, thought you'll find way more pens than pencils. If you're looking for someplace like Corvega or the packing plants for Aluminum I think you're out of luck.

Might have to ramp up my water production then. Either that or I start nuka world sooner and start getting money from intimidation or whatever

What level are you? After 12 or so you're probably swimming in Stimpaks you'll never use and that are worth a small fortune, plus if you were conservative with the Deathclaw in Concord you'll have 500+ rounds of 5mm you can dump, assuming that isn't your ammo of choice.

Shipments ARE how we prefer to get lead. Are you sure you're not just failing miserably to take the easy route and then throwing little tantrums when people tell you what the easiest route is? Sure looks that way. If it's "100% obvious" what is the purpose of this thread?

Sadly, there's no good source of lead to mark on the map but raiders and gunners often have lead lined armor pieces that can be scrapped for lead and in schools and offices you gonna find some pencils to scrap too. If you think to start buying shipments you better go and buy ammo instead, it'll be cheaper.

Good source of lead = any respawnable source of lead, including exercise weights and shipments, like described in the wiki page that was linked in post #1.

I'm well into the game at this point. Level 41 on survival and I've been treating .38 as currency. Main weapon right now uses 5.56mm which I have a good amount of and can afford to keep buying more but in the field it's so uncommon to loot even with rank 3 scrounger. My main weapon is going to be the handmade rifle at some point which was why I'm looking for lead. Using a mod that adds DLC ammos to the ammo plant.

So... I'm not sure if you still want this information since you made this a year ago.... but... I'm the most unconventional player in the Fallout Universe probably, and noticed that since all of the environmental pieces respawn... I made my own lists where things respawn. I was actually surprised that no one has really done this... not even wiki pages have any locations for where junk should respawn. I'm still working on the lists... but, makeshift batteries is primarily what I look for. Right now, I'm still in vanilla game without mods, but with the mod that respawns all cells immediately... that would be perfect for my lists... then you would really.... never have to buy lead shipments. The gyms.... YES, they have a lot of lead... BUT... they don't respawn... or at least the atomics galleria gym doesn't... the boxing gym does... but... you get the point... not all of them are super reliable when you've picked them clean.

There is a makeshift battery on the robotics disposal grounds sitting in the bunker near a weapons workbench.

There is another battery inside the cambridge diner sitting underneath a yellow laundry sink

There is another battery in the Croup Manor basement under a weapons workbench. (although I just found this one... Not quite sure if this one respawns)

If you didn't pick fort Hagen completely clean... there should be a couple to a few floating around in there (but these don't respawn if you got them all)

There is one in hardware town behind the main counter sitting under a weapons workbench

There is another one in lexington sitting under a weapons workbench on the right side of lexington (right of the monumental statue that sits near the middle before the bridge with the raider decked out in power armor)

There is another in Boston Mayoral Shelter... just after going down the elevator is one sitting in the room on the right next to what appears to be some kind of fushion generator.

There is another one in Dunwich Borers (although, you need to be careful if you haven't been here yet... this is littered with enemies and it tends to be a really rough area) but... it's near the entrance (after defeating about five raiders or so...) It's sitting under a weapons workbench.

There is also one in the federal ration stockpile... towards the end of the dungeon... in a cavelike area after a turret and an armor workbench... there is a narrow dead-end with a shelf on the left, and the battery on the right sitting on the ground next to it.

That's all I have for batteries at the moment... but... I also have more locations for some pencils too...

One on a dining table in house with exit from old gullet sinkhole (in a house with a previously chained door with the only way in from the outside)

There is one on the main desk in the main entryway to Corvega Assembly Plant

One on another desk a little after the main entry way to Corvega Assembly Plant (in one of the offices to the right I believe.)

One in the Shamrock Taphouse in the room down the stairs from the boss raider room sitting on a coffee table in the middle of the room.

There is another in the Shamrock Taphouse in a room with four stoves and counters around the perimeter of the room. It should be sitting on a counter in the room.

In the Boston Mayoral Shelter, sitting in the room where you find the Mayor's goodbye holotape... it's sitting on an endtable next to a bed and a crib laying on its side.

And here are a few pencils that don't respawn....

After entering Fort Hagen through the parking garage, and going down a flight of stairs to the Fort Hagen Command Center through a double set of blue metallic doors, on tabletop desk attached to the front of an electronics configurations, a pencil is sitting on the tabletop to the left of a coffee cup.

in the Fort Hagen Command Center. In the room where Kellogg is warning you about turning back through an intercom in a room with new furnishings... there is a pencil on the floor underneath the desk.

in the Fort Hagen Command Center. In a room littered with wooden computer desks, the pencil is sitting on one in the middle of the room, but toward the back wall.

And... I'm afraid that's all the free lead I have marked for now.... If you really needed antisceptic.... I could really help you a lot there.... I'm super huge into making my own stimpacks... but happy hunting and TTFN! :D
