Anyone else find it ironic Fallout 4 got a metacritic score of 84?
So for those of you that don't know your history.

If NV got an 85 on metacritic they will get royalties of the sales. They got an 84 and almost went bankrupt because they were hoping for that bonus.

Fallout 4 ironically gets an 84 and gets to keep their royalties without the feeling of hypocrisy. lol

Not sure why someone sane enough would care about what metacritic says about a game, though.

In the case this was directed to me, I have only spoken the truth: if you care about what metacritic, or any other big deal in the reviewing market, says about games, you're just stupid.

BGS is owned by zenimax, which owns the fallout ip they don't get royalties they get paid wages.

Ps: obsidian almost going bankrupt had nothing to do with fnv, Microsoft pulled back a contract for an X box game and obsidian had to lay off the extra staff they had hired for that game.

Thats not ironic at all.

Yet I still have more playtime on 4 overall. How strange that the opinions of others haven't given me any incentive to rectify that.:2016bee:

Since you didn't care to QUOTE whoever were you referring to, yeah, it is kinda hard to tell who did you direct that to.

Actually is it ironic. When Obsidian was tasked to make Fallout New Vegas in a single year to keep the Fallout hype going after Fallout 3 while work on Fallout 4 was being done they was told they will get royalties for the game if the game hits 85 or above on Metacritic. But because of the lack of development time the game was shipped with many many bugs which brought the score down until it landed on 84 on metacritic which meant Obsidian got nothing for making the game.

Simply put. Bethesda Studios care about what metacritic say because they deny people money for it.

What you just described is not irony. At all.

It was developed in 18 months not 12, and obsidian was paid their contractual fee for the game. They did not get the required minimum metacritic score so they lost out on the bonus.
