Most immersive hud/map mod?
I'm on my 1st playthrough (no mods), and if I could change one thing, I think it would be the accuracy with which the game tracks your destination on your map/hud. It's personal preference, but knowing exactly where to go kinda ruins exploration of such a big open world for me. It just feels so much more organic and natural to bump into cool new stuff and landmarks while searching for something VS consciously straying from your destination in order to do so.

So, any mod recommendations for that? I'm thinking that maybe map/hud icons should be 100% accurate but only after you've actually discovered a place for the first time.

Survival mode reduces the distance at which your compass picks up locations. Otherwise, deselect quests in your data to remove quest markers too.

If you don't want any compass at all (outside of Power Armor because that's sorta hard-coded), try Gopher's iHUD.

Thanks, possible workarounds to try I guess.
Ideally, it would be great to keep quests selected for reference and also keep the compass, but hide all location and quest icons from the hud. iHUD looks good though I will have to check it out.

(in the meantime I also discovered the bShowQuestMarkers setting in the ini files but setting it to 0 doesn't seem to make a difference, which sucks because I think I could settle for that).

Get a yellow bucket, paint a black radiation sign on it and leave your house, warning people outside making "tick, tick, tick" with your mouth and call it Fallout 4 real life resolution mod :>

Then Def_UI is for you. You can hide individual parts of hud elements with it.
