Dead end in Time, Gentlemen, Please!
I played both games and found them hilarious, but I noticed that you can make the 2nd game unbeatable by missing on the can opener/fridge magnet. I was stuck in the basement about one hour before I looked it up in the internet and noticed I needed an item that I didn't have.

Yeah, the exact same thing happened to me. >.< Figures if there is one bug in the game I would walk right into it. It's especially annoying considering you have a map and they should just let you go back to the dungeon.
I would say it's rather a misconception than a bug. Also, I actually like the part with being locked in the basement.
The developers could just have Dan say something along the lines of "Wait, I feel like something's still missing" instead of triggering the scene if you don't have everything.
Then again, it's only about a quarter of an hour into the game when you know the solutions.

That's funny, I don't seem to remember seeing a way to make TGP unwinnable. Then again, I did take the Wits path and I'm not sure whether the puzzles change if you take the Stealth or Fists paths.

If you're referring to the part where Dan has to revive Ben before neutralising the Nazi dinosaur patrolling PAL's house, you don't need the fridge magnet for either puzzle. It took me absolutely ages to get hold of the fridge magnet in my playthrough, which can be done at any time before reviving PAL or once the rifts start appearing all over London. If there was a way to get stuck without the magnet, I definitely would have found it!

at about 10:30, they are imprisoned in the cellar.
You need the magnet for the puzzle in the next part https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFi-Xpb3q4M at about 2:20, but when you don't have it yet, the guard won't let you out of the cellar so you can't get it and are stuck (as the LPer mentions btw).

You don't need the magnet to get past the guard. I didn't pick up the magnet until a very long time after knocking out the guard, which I was able to do without it. You just use the hipflask to pour some oil on the floor, thus allowing you to move around freely again. You can then return to Tower of London, get the magnet, then return to the warehouse to remove the nail.

Oh right, I just tried it and apparently, it really was my own stupidity >.< So thank you for your clarification.

Yup, just ran into this issue as well. I cannot get the nail because I forgot to pick up the magnet (I don't even recall seeing the magnet after I pulled it off).

If you don't have the magnet, you can head back to the Tower of London and get it. You will need to deal with the patrolling dinosaur in PAL's house first, the solution to which has been described above. I can guarantee that, unlike many other point-and-click games from the past, it's literally impossible for TGP to become unwinnable. If either Ben or Dan happen to claim that they've gotten stuck, it's a joke: https://twitter.com/danthat/status/649651245930663936
