What killed the scientist in the vent? (Unforseen Consequences)
As you play the level "Unforseen Consequences", You see a scientist being pulled in a vent and another trying to pull him out by standing on a ladder, As the scientist falls off the ladder which causes him to be killed by his own ladder and then you hear the scientist that was pulled into the vent screaming until his death, Judging by the thing that was killing him, I heard a few barnacle sounds like the sound they make when pulling their tongue closer to their mouth, Can Barnacles even live sideways? Because you see them mostly on celings in the whole Half - Life games.

Probably just a headcrab or zombie.

Barnacle sounds are mostly just stock squelching noises that can be reused, also the actual canonical version of this scene from the actual game doesn't have much in the way of sound effects anyway. It's not a barnacle, as they don't live in vents or operate like that. A simple zombie is the most logical option, we even see a zombie drag a guard into a vent later.

Lolz, a headcrab doesn't have the power to pull a man into a ventilation shaft,
a scientists with a headcrab attached, maybe...

Most likely it could be a barnacle if the vent goes straight up, right behind the wall.

Scientist tried to escape, opened the vent , then went in head first, and came down in pieces.

Barnacles don't work like that, a zombie is the only logical option.

That's the Office Complex one, the Unforseen Consequences one uses headcrab sounds in the original game. No idea if it is a headcrab zombie or something worse we never get to see.

That may be possible, though considering what Mr Friendly does to its victims, (i.e. it literally r.apes them to death) how the scientists gibs fly out of the vent afterward doesn't bear thinking about what is going on in there or how their bodies explode in the first place.
