About FFX-2.5 and FFX-will, looking forward to FFX-3
Spoilers inside, your attention!
Some of you might be interested in the follow-ups about Yuna and Tidus's loving stores, so i just provide some summarizations here for your references.(I am not judging whether X-2 or any official sequel staff is better or not, I am only doing the inducing work for FFX-2.5 and will may not sound that familiar with you compared to the prestigious FFX-10)

FFX-2.5 ~Price of Eternity~ or ~永遠の代償~
in Japanese is an official novel written by Kazushige Nojima who had written the scenario for FFX and FFX-2, released the same day on December 26th, 2013 to commemorate the release of FFX/X-2 HD.
It is set two years after FFX, that is, directly after the perfect ending of FFX-2 where Tidus and Yuna got reunited on Besaid island (so somehow SE admits the fact Tidus revives). For details, take this final fantasy wikia link for referenceFinal Fantasy X-2.5[finalfantasy.wikia.com]
I just summarize the useful but not main plots here(since this novel deals too much with the background settings for Spira). Yuna and Tidus went out on a journey to enjoy themselves(only the two of them, deem it a honey travel if you wish, there are love plots in this novel)after Tidus's back, but Tidus's head was bombed by a blitzball bomb on the island. (WTF, this novel received mostly negative reviews in Japan). Witnessing Tidus's death, Yuna fell down in sorrow and later summoned Tidus with Tidus being her aeon, this summon however, is not perfect in the sense Tidus shares the memory that only Yuna has and will perish if he realize it (there are of course some other flaws, how could you simply summon a dead back, if in this way, all dead in Spira could be revived).

FFX-Will
is the credits and bonus audio content on FFX/X-2 HD starting menu, a 30-minute audio centered video. See for yourself or take this wikia link for referenceeFinal Fantasy X-Will[finalfantasy.wikia.com]
Again, I give summarizations here. There years after FFX, or one year after FFX-2.5, Tidus is now a pro blitzball player settled in Bevelle who has been able to walk alongside Yuna for the past one year. When one day, Yuna, now a priestess in Besaid was visited by Kurgum, a young summoner and his friend since childhood, Chuami(Auron's daughter), to inform her of the abnormal phenomenons on moonflow river. It was not until the two insisted that Tidus looked weak when they saw him in Bevell stadium that Yuna agreed to investigate in person, but to find out Sin returned. Yuna felt obliged to see Tidus but on their meet, broke up with Tidus on the reason that she fell in love with somebody else whom Tidus didn't know. Yuna, together with Wakka and the young summer Kurgum, set their foots to fight Sin. On their leave, Tidus returned to Besaid together with Chuami to inquire Lulu whom the person Yuna in love was, but was suggested by Lulu she thought he would know better about Yuna and should figure it out himself. On understanding what's the meaning beyong Lulu's words, he starts to find where Yuna is to join her in the journey since he promised they should be together forever.

FFX-2.5 and FFX-will is a sure sign that Square Enix have some plans on FFX-3. There are news since 2014, and hopefully signs of development in 2016, but no sure official announcement. If you are interested, see this post on Reddit: It's 2016: Time for Square Enix to announce Final Fantasy X-3

Some personal thinking on FFX-2.5 and FFX-will, no matter Tidus revives through whatever means, summoned or whatever , he is sure to reunite with Yuna after FFX-2. But in FFX-3, Tidus would not be necessarily be bombed and summoned back by Yuna as set in FFX-will (which is criticized by most fans in Japan). Yuna's break up with Tidus is a sure make up to protect Tidus from Sin as every summoner knows how to defeat Sin and what the cost is.
Last words, why there will be FFX-3 is that the director is not satisfied with the setting of FFX-2 since their styles are too distinct. And if you are meticulous enough in watching FFX-will, you will find out there is no FFX-2 settings.

2.5 and Will were released with or close to the original Remaster.

But I also think that Kitase-san has other things to do.

(Do I really want a depressing game? If the mood of Will is the general mood in X-3 - no thank you. Not all games have to be what is considered grown up. Some need to stay a little teenager lovey doey. - Y'know: absurdely happy ever after or at least with a very optimistic ending.)

Both were initially released in 2013, not that long, buddy.

The bonus audio in the credits was created for the remaster. It has as far as I'm aware been about as well recieved as the idea of midichlorians.

The FFX-2 settings are the FFX settings. Baralai is also in FFX Will and Tidus being back follows on from the ending of FFX-2 so it actually uses quite a bit of material from FFX-2.

The existence of Will & 2.5 are not guarantees that X3 is happening. Bonus material created for anniversary editions and such is quite common and the reddit post makes no effort to provide any sources for those claims.

thx for your kind reply. I may have made myself misunderstood, sorry about that. What I mean is in the bonus audio, you will see pictures of character specifications, monsters and scenario scripts, all of which come from FFX but not FFX-2.

Yes, it is for sure anniversary bonus material does not necessarily suggest a FFX-3 promise. In the audio that Yuna is setting out to defeat Sin by herself, it is to me a sign that a new story is to begin, otherwise SE should give this HD remaster a finishing story bonus material.
And here in China, FFX HD is already the grand seller game in PS4 and PSV. It would be a miss in their company strategy if there is no sequel.

That means nothing though.

Sin's already been defeated so I'm not really sure what you are getting here but I suspect this is also largely down to language barrier issues.

They did it's called the golden endings of X-2. It can be a sign for you but that is a personal interpretation.

So releasing FFXV, FFVII remake & Kingdom Hearts 3 would't be doing that? Personally I don't think that just because it has been financially succesfull in one region means it should automatically get another continuation not when the story has already been concluded.

Frankly having read the synposis of both 2.5 & Will the story directions in both come across as something out of bad fanfic and contradict elements of the plot of the previous games.I'd prefer to not see any further stories set in Spira if those are going to the groundwork for them.

Yeah,FFXV must be on top priority. Some lists of the post on Reddit sounds reasonable, give it a check if you are interested.

I agree with you largely on this ground, but anyway, I would like to see the story beginning in Will get finished.
I don't understand those people who don't want X-3.

Because SE "might" ruin it, so they rather have no sequel and leave it at the cliffhanger FFX Will. That's stupid.

Why? The story in Will is terrible and just comes across as bad fanfiction.
I think they did have plans but when the audio and the novella where about as good as being told you have terminal cancer they decided not to.
I don't remember a lot of FFX-2 i played it trough to it's completion and got a moderatly alright ending. FFX and X-2 remastered is all I need from it's world.
BattleDonut eredeti hozzászólása:
They said clearly they have no plans for a FFX-3, they simply thought it was a good thing to release the additional content with the remaster.

That’s not really our intentions with including the audio episode.

Since we’re revisiting Final Fantasy X and X-2, which were released about 10 years ago, the series’ scenario writer Kazushige Nojima and character designer Tetsuya Nomura had a discussion and thought that the HD Remaster release would be a good opportunity for them to include this additional story episode [and expand upon the universe a little further].

But the audio episode’s inclusion wasn’t because we have any plans to develop a Final Fantasy X-3.

Indeed, I read the news in 2014. SE once said there would be no sequel to FFX, but here comes FFX-2, that is the style of SE.
Two years have passed by beside,so give it some expectations.

Thank you @MorninglightMountain for your careful, logistic reply. I think the story is perfectly finished in FFX/X-2. My point is the story in Will and the bonus audio has just started, SE simply would not let sin come back again but do nothing, though it is like some fan fictions as you said.

Indeed, what i mean is financial target has to be considered in SE's successive project schedules, and anyone knows what a Chinese market means since there is such demand. FFX HD is the first one in FF series that is not locked in Chinese region on steam store(except for FFVII), that does mean something, aha. What you sayis both reasonable and sound enough, I only give some facts here.

Yeah, to many, the story in FFX in fairly good enough. Same to me, but I just want to see the story beginning in Will get finished, personal taste somehow. But if Tidus dies I would not be accepting that.
