1st lvl4 key first time playing the game what should I do with it?

Pretty much what the subject says. Hoping to get lots of different answers or one or 2 really great ones.

uhhh... btw are there only a limited number of lvl4 keys? I'm in mount something or other and found this one in a chest. Haven't gotten any lvl3 keys yet though. I;ve been hording my teleport, friend and return sphere cause some of the things I've read made it sound like they are limited. For instance the 'Ultima' skill/spell is behind a lvl4 lock. Would hate to use this on opening some path then later discover I really needed that damned key for something else.

What would you do with it? I just 'opened' the Arena shortly before I came here and found this in case you want to know about where I'm at.

That depends. Dont sell it thats 100%.

If you want to keep playing game after you finish it and max out characters, keep it and use it for unlocking Sphere Grids.

if you just want to pass it and dont play it again, you can keep it until final boss ( coz hes very hard if you just play the game and not grind it levels ) and mix it on Rikkus overdrive to make Trio of 9999 ( every character in current party deals 9999 damage on every attack/spell ). That way you can finish him very quick and just go on finishing game. Then you just cast hastega on with Tidus on Rikku yuna and himself ( well hastega is for whole party ) and finish the boss within few minutes. Rikku has very high agility in her stats so she has a lot of turns before boss attacks, along with hastega ,therefore you get to deal few 9999 damages before the boss even attacks.

Definitely use it for double-cast in Lu's path. You need a lvl 3 sphere as well, though.

He most likely have a special sphere already which means both Lulu and Yuna can get doublecast as soon as possible.
Quickhit took a hard nerf in this version.

Depends on what sphere grid you used, on the normal grid i'd use it for Doublecast (after using Blk Mag Sphere's to learn AGA spells for yuna).
expert grid is far more forgiving and flexible IMO. your party is far more customised so it doesn't really matter where you go.

I'm obsessed with Ultima and have been for every Final Fantasy in which I've seen that spell, and it requires four L4 spheres. In my incredibly biased opinion, I suggest you stockpile L4s to open up Ultima. In lieu of this, you can always:

- Farm teleport spheres. (You'll need two if you skip the locks.)
- Farm master spheres. (Farm these anyway, regardless of your choice.)

You can bribe and/or steal for pretty much every item in the game iirc. Level 4 spheres are rare but I'm sure you can steal them off Nemesis (which will take a while to unlock) or bribe the chimera brain 190,000 gil for 2.

Level 3 spheres are very rare but you can also steal and bribe for those. A very good place to get them is in the ronso fight on Mt Gagazet. You just neeed Kimhari to have the steal ability. You can get 6-8 from the 2 rronsos you fight.

Of course there are some of each in the chests in the higher level areas too.

Best use is pretty much always sphere grid unless you have already done perfect sphere grids for everyone. Trio of 9999 is much easier (and less "expensive") to achieve with something like wings to discovery which you can easily get 30 of in calm lands once you get access to chocobos.

I'd personally go with doublecast for yuna. Use of blk magic sphere's would be quite useless since you need to move there anyways after you've learned the -aga spells. I'd personally go with either farming my way there or just teleporting (After getting all the useful spells from yuna's own path).
