Friendly reminder to not level up Rikku's HP
...if you want to min max later, as she has the lowest HP, so it's easier to reach 99 S.Lv per battle per minute.

If not, well, just enjoy yourself. FFX has one of the comfiest world of all FFs. Ironic, considering it's one of the most linear FF.

You'll still max her HP out anyways, Don Tonberry method hasn't been patched.
Not following how her health has any impact on her sphere level gain speed

In the original PS2 version with fully unlocked legendary, I had Rikku doing 12k melee (or was that Yuna 12k and Rikku doing 25k). Either way, I hit the 9999HP cap no problem. After that I do not know as you need rare items to get the break HP/MP limits on an accessory. Hp does not impact leveling speed. There are always spheres you can find to put in the empty slots on the sphere grid to upgrade her HP as well so the problem is minimal at best.

If you have a weapon with overdrive -> AP and get hit by a strong attack in Stoic mode (comrade for other characters) you gain a huge amount of AP. Higher your max HP compared to the damage taken, less overdrive/AP gained. So against a boss like Tonberry who can hit you for a couple million or more per hit you can gain hundreds of sphere levels in a few fights. It's not really as amazing as it seems though since by the time you've caught all monsters and grinded all the money you need you'll have a pretty full sphere grid anyway.

@OP I find it tends to be better to just use Tidus since he'll have by far the most kills by the time you hit end-game grinding so he takes a hell of a lot more damage than Rikku

And why it should be patched? It is not a bug/glitch.
It's an exploit though.

It's the natural logical conclusion of the algorithms involved.

It is definitely the most Linear FF, but its done in such a way that it never really feels boring.
Good luck with the Sphere Grid

I've heard that if you kill the Zombie Monks in Zanarkand Dome, that actually counts as 2 kills (counts towards Slayer Overdrive and towards Tonberry damage).

Linear it may have been, but it at least was enjoyable, unlike another very linear Final Fantasy game that shall not be mentioned...

*cough* Thirteen *cough*

Pretty much this, but I did say in the OP if you want to _minmax_, that is, to replace all sphere that isn't +4 (or +300 for HP, I forgot the exact amount for MP) and to fill the empty nodes with +4s stat spheres. It's for fighting Penance and Nemesis. Hence Rikku having the lowest HP (350ish?) is better than Tidus (520?) for minmaxing the grid. Your point still stand, though, it's fine.

It's really, really not needed, you won't use rikku for most of the game story this way.
I've beaten Der Richter on my old PS2 (without Yojimbo "cheat") and you already gain A LOT of AP with tomberry without having to do that

FF13 is definitely the most linear FF..... you literally go down straight hallways and get cutscenes at the end for the great majority of the game....

I don't acknowledge ff13 is a true FF though =)

I give Rikku Stonestrike, Evade and Counter, and Deathstrike capture weapons, and then... well, her kill rate goes up LIKE CRAZY.
