The Rhonso Youth, Baralai, and the three Crusader girls (Elma, Lucille, and Yaibal) are the most doable, though they have their dangerous parts as well.
I haven't tried doing YL Cup early on without fiend teams, but I imagine it's doable. I've beaten it with fiend teams in Chapter 1 plenty of times, but it did involve a ton of concedes against Nooj etc. Fiends are fairly decent against Gippal, because you can use the fiend stars to mitigate his Grinder quite well, and he has few truly dangerous attacks.
