Impale is a non-charge attack that ignores defense - meaning that short of the one or two enemies immune to physical damage, they are good against everything. Fully kitted, this team can kill even Trema in SECONDS.
The only caveat there is that to efficiently max the stats (especially Agility) you will need Iron Dukes, since they give +10 to all stats when consumed. You do not need to "play through the game" to farm Iron Dukes, since they drop off Major Numerus - with the Key to Success accessory (double drops) as well as the Butterfingers ability from the right Garment Grid (all rare drops) you can farm a ton of them in a single fight, and simply chaining Major Numerus in the arena will provide all you need. Of course, this makes this team a bit of an overkill, since Numerus is basically the toughest superboss. You can level them with other accessories, but it'll take forever. Also, you can only get one Ragnarok from the story to teach them break damage limit, and the only other source of that is, again, Major Numerus.
A good all-around team that's a lot easier to assemble is Almighty Shinra + Sleep Sprout. Sleep Sprout's Itchy Powder ability severely cripples enemy damage to the point of irrelevance, and Almighty Shinra has amazing stats, all breaks, and an attack that chains into multiple hits (Clione). It will devastate most enemies including Major Numerus, but has the downside of not penetrating defense so enemies with high DEF like Trema will take a long time to kill. Sleep Sprout can be easily captured in chapter 5 after opening Via Infinito. Almighty Shinra requires you to unlock and beat the Almighty Shinra Cup, but that isn't super hard (especially if you fight him with Sleep Sprout :P).
If you're in NG+, one of the best new captures is Logos - his Hail of Bullets is a multi-hit ability that deals a ton of damage. You can slot him into various teams as preferred.
The key to fiend battles is to minimize unwanted actions. You want to set up your skills so they are most likely to do what you want - usually that's their one particularly strong attack. A good way to do this is to fill the rest of the active ability slots with situational abilities like Raise, Esuna, etc. so they'll learn quickly not to use those unless needed. One key ability you should pretty much ALWAYS have on every fiend is Vigor - it's a quick, free 50% self-heal, and is insanely powerful.
Another neat trick is Dark Sky - it has a long animation, however it doesn't lock out instant actions; this means that your other party members can keep attacking while the animation plays, and with enough Agility that can allow you a ton of free attacks while the spell finishes, without enemies having a chance to really respond. Only one party member should have this, to avoid multiples trying to go off.
The dark sky thing sounds awesome, and i am not aware of vigor. I already put healing stuff on my fiends..like full life and other things. Thanks for the tips. Ill try to catch those machines if i can and try to open the demon cup this time. As i said, i overleveled my first game in another post..and this is why i could not open the demon cup. If i knew that overleveling would cause me to not be able to open fiend tales up, i would of never done it. This time i am limiting the girls levels up to level 50 only. That should be fine enough to beat the ending without issues with the right dresspheres and then substitute fiends in their spots and level them up instead.
Keep in mind that while they can be insanely good, that really only happens at high stats - Agility in particular, which is very hard to level. Before you can efficiently max their stats, I'd stick to other fiends first.
Almighty Shinra really isn't that hard to beat even with YRP - and very easy with Mushroom Cloud. Shinra is ridiculous basically from the start, with very little investment. He's usually my go-to for beating all the cups and farming Numerus.
Just got 100% storywise. I have not unlocked farplane cup yet....last cup i unlocked is youth league..and i cannot even beat it. I also have not open the demon cup..which i need to get allmighty shinra. I am only missing the monument enemy tomb type and ultimate weapon to get him. I missed first time because i overleveled and missed them.
Well i will try to open the demon cup. I only just made it to chapter 2 and gave awesome sphere to beville, which just got me to 100% story. Alot of the monsters i need are in chapter 5. I unlocked all the new game plus people now too.
As for beating all the cups, i beat all the ones i opened except youth league one. I have yet to open demon cup and farplane cup. I even beat the cactuar cup before.
Also, still need to open aeon cup, i only need to find 2 more fiends with fayths.
But there's some useful unlocks and loot along the way.
