FFXED save editor now directly compatible with FFX HD save files!
Hello all,

I am fuzzymillipede, the creator of the savegame editor FFXED. I just updated the code to in theory make it compatible with the save files for PC. My goal is for FFXED to be able to open save files without removing the "junk" bytes at the end, and without having to recalculate the checksum.

What this means is that people who use FFXED should no longer have to follow some weird instructions like the following, they will just be able to use FFXED directly:

I do not have this version of the game, so I'm looking for anyone who can help me test my changes. Any volunteers?

You can find the new beta version of FFXED (FFXED.v0.748-beta.jar) on my official thread on pcsx2.net:

Thanks,
fuzzy

A few people tested the new version and it seems to be working. The thread on pcsx2.net has been updated to include the latest version of FFXED!

https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-FFXED-Final-Fantasy-X-Save-Editor

FFXED 0.748 changelog:

- Added support for FFX PC (Steam) save files. Now you can load and save these files without the use of additional tools.
- Fixed a bug with how the FFXED.ini file works
- Made the main menu wider because it was too skinny on newer versions of Windows which resulted in the window being un-draggable
- Renamed the Edit and Done buttons to Apply and Apply & Close to make it less confusing
- Added credits for various people in the About section. If you think I missed someone who should be included, please let me know!

great to hear , especially the menu thing, on my 4k monitor it was very tiny

Regarding the monitor thing, have you considered configuring it to scale everything up? I also have a high-resolution monitor and everything (not just FFXED) was so small that it hurt my eyes. After scaling everything by 125% it is usable.

I'm looking for more people who can test FFXED for me, as I no longer own any copies of the game. Any feedback?

i will test it a bit later , just tell me what i should try

Try testing that you can load a PC save in FFXED, make some edit, and save it back again. Then check to see that FFX is able to successfully load the edited save.

Also try changing a character's name to something else. Pick a character who can't normally be renamed, like Auron. Check that FFX can pick up the edited name without any issues.

i just tried that , i cheated ether to 99 with the editor and set rikkus outfit to the first one, worked without using the memory sumchecker or the chunk deleter

changing names worked both ways , one time getting an error bc of too many letters and then writing the name where the ERROR text is ( replacing it ) and one time just changing it

i noticed one thing , the old editor saved the folder you had your saves in the new one always just loads documents and you have to open the 2 sub-folders manually

Where do I donate. I am serious.

This functionality was not removed and seems to be working for me. Can you try re-downloading FFXED from the main thread ( https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-FFXED-Final-Fantasy-X-Save-Editor ) and let me know if you still have the problem? I have made some updates and you may not have the latest version. Also, try deleting FFXED.ini just in case something weird is in there.

Also, make sure FFXED.jar is inside of a directory where it is able to create FFXED.ini. If it lacks file permissions to create FFXED.ini then it won't be able to keep track of the previous folder location for you (this is the purpose of FFXED.ini).

Cool. FFXED.ini should appear in the same directory as FFXED.jar, btw.
