Got a warning letter for cheating?
I got a warning letter saying I was cheating and I had a seven day suspension from playing online.

The irony is I never play this online (in fact, I'm still a lil sore at the devs for promising offline then changing it to online solo).

My connection is ♥♥♥♥ here to the servers, and I can't really play online.. hell I can barely play offline without disconnects.

So its to my surprise that I get this email considering that I just started playing again about a week or two ago, and its only solo without using any hacks. Ironically, I do know that there is a cheat engine trainer for it that works online.. but it would kinda defeat the point of the game to use this imo especially solo.

So not sure what triggered this "community report" of my cheating.. when a.) I wasn't and b.) I never play online. Maybe they got some weird stats off my client due to the internet issues I'm having.

Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone recently got letters as well. Maybe there is some issue with the detection software.. or maybe something I was running in the background got picked up.

the fact you have only been playing for a few weeks and know of working cheat engine trainer's. i dont believe you never used one. i have played for years and have never even thought about looking. the fact you have looked one up in such a small time of playing tells me you where looking for one to use.

just take your punishment and dont do it again.

Also keep in mind that "solo" doesn't imply solo player aka offline. "solo" means playing online (so your actions can still affect other players) but in your own single instance. So don't confuse this for single player or offline play.

Gonna go with this, considering fdev is weak as hell with their attitude towards cheats (people regularly went months without getting so much as a slap on the wrist), the fact that someone got a letter this fast doesn't pass the smell test.

Did you actually get banned from the game, and you confirmed it was actually from Frontier? Phishing attempts claiming that your account is the target of moderation actions are fairly common in online games. And I'd think that a ban for cheating would be permanent, and keep you off of solo play, as well.

You are always online, even in solo. You note this yourself.

FD's cheat detection tools can detect someone cheating in solo.

It could mean that constant disconnects could have been misinterpreted as combat logging, and the ban is a shadow banning from being able to see other people.

It's a bit hard to understand, as OP constantly confuses "Solo" and "offline". So he could mean "Open" with "online". As if they ban you from playing online, it means that you can't play, at all - the game is always online.

Oooh, that's a possibility.

Consequences of a ridiculous fake "solo" mode ...

a little presumptuous don't you think? you know all about Nazis right? does that make you a sympathiser? having knowledge about something isn't any indication of anything, malicious or otherwise.

point is knowing about a working one. its not easy to find a working cheat program for elite. elites cheaters are very small group that dont tend to make their cheats public. and most of the ones that are public dont actually work. so for him to know of a working one suggests he has really went looking for a working one. and how would he know its working if he never tried it.

but also might be that he was loading into open and combat logging when he seen other players and noticed he was in open. combat logging is considered cheating.

as for is internet to be at blame. i dont believe that what so ever. if the servers cant connect send or receive data from you correctly for even a second then it will disconnect you.

No, it was nothing to do with your internet because we all have internet issues at times and have never seen people posting about being warned about cheating by FDev.

This is not true, ED is P2P, so the only time data is exchanged is when there is a change in the instance. I could supercruise to hutton orbital and as long as nobody enters my instance in SC, NPC's or players, no data will be sent to Fdup... And I wont receive any either. Press <CTRL + B> to see your exchange of data on the fly.

I can confirm FDev server forcibly disconnecting player in case of poor connection. Experienced this myself good few times. It is very simple working solution. FDev manages the server, they see you struggling to maintain fair connection and they disconnect - THEY DISCONNECT - forcing you to log back in... If you disconnect (few times in short period of time) this can be seen as cheat as people tend to disconnect while in trouble...

He did say "just started playing again" - so that suggests a returning player not a complete beginner
