Game needs private/custom/modded servers
Lets be real... the game has almost no player-to-player interaction built in. Like... you cant even give other players things.... That means you cant sell things, you cant transfer old stuff, you cant pay someone for a task. You CAN team up with a small wing of friends to tackle a hard mission or whatever and thats great but it doesn't really necessitate a shared world.

The ONLY thing the shared world adds is griefing. And the griefing is only allowed so that you get mad and spend real money on stuff. Thats it. There's no other change from you just playing co-op with your friends on a private server like ARK or something.

It is fine that it is a loosely thrown together, story-less sandbox. Lots of games have that same model... but all of those games are also a lot more flexible and all of them have mods, RP servers, PVE servers, Hardcore servers, etc.

I've been hunting the same group of 7 pirates for literally a day. That would be fine if it was super fun game play and I was, you know, scanning debris or black boxes to catch the scent then asking around to people or something but no, you're just stuck literally flying in circles around a system until the RNG monster poops a pirate out in front of you. Then you have a fight that literally emulates grinding something, as you and the NPC fly in concentric circles and blast each other for 3 min straight.

I, personally, just want a damage x5 mode or something. The fighting is SO boring. Or just a casual/easy mode. I'm all for exploring this, honestly, stupid universe where wars are fought by UPS drivers instead of anything recognizable as an actual military, but I don't have time for this.

And that's why we don't need those modded servers. We need a balanced gameplay, not "win" buttons.

If you find the gameplay to be boring, then you can choose other games that better suit your preferences, instead of ruining this game.

Not true. The "Assassinate pirate" missions spawn POIs. All you have to do is fly to the blue highlighted POI (can locate it with the DSS but the fastest way is to scan the nav beacon) and the pirate (plus his three NPC civilian targets) is just right there, waiting for you to shoot first. SCO made these missions way faster.

...So, out of curiosity, have you tried looking for pirates by any means other than flying in circles? Because, you know, if you scan the data beacon at a threat 3 Degraded Emissions source, the three eagles it spits out are ridiculously easy to kill. "Scanning debris to catch the scent" is literally a thing you can do, and actually the most expedient way to complete those missions in systems that spawn that particular signal. Using an interdictor from supercruise, which it sounds like you are doing, is expedient, but it isn't always faster, not even than just sitting at a nav beacon.

Also giving other players things is entirely possible. It is just quicker and easier to sell them at fleet carriers than to mess with cargo scooping most of the time.

And private servers do exist. It is the second option when you hit play. It's a native capability, too- you don't have to mess around with hosting, anyone can make them. Almost every player community has one, and people use them all the time when instance control is important.

It also seems like you aren't aware that engineering is a thing, nor have you tried flying flight assist off, if all you are doing is jousting and you feel like the damage is too low.

It sounds like you don't have the slightest clue how nearly anything in this game works, and so you have jumped to saying that it does not. I might give some credence to the idea that your ignorance is indeed the devs fault, except these particular things are a far cry from the esoteric systems that normally cause these problems, and are indeed one of the few areas the Pilot's Handbook does explain well.

I mean, seriously. The age rating on the game is not so low that independent thought is an impossible bar that you should berate the game for putting in front of you.

It's not just you. I prefer to call it a clown show, to be honest. If it's not clowns complaining, it's clowns demanding things, or clowns spreading false information, or clowns claiming how the game is dying and their half-baked suggestion is the only way that it will survive (every game dev should take advice from people on the internet with zero experience in game design, right?).

Cool. Its not an assassinate pirate mission so...Scanned the nav beacon got a message that said there was no target info, sorry.

You mean the overcharge button that makes my ship fly all crazy and then catch on fire?

Do you guys seriously ever consider that people doing "hunt the pirate mission" or "fetch the mcguffin" probably arent in fully engineered FDLs or whatever?

4K steam players this month, peak was 27K three years ago. You are the misinformer.

I love how whenever someone accuses other people of misinformation... they're always the one spreading misinformation.

Yes you can...

Abandon said item from your cargo hold, another player can scoop it manually or with a limpet if they don't want to buy it off your FC.

You can literally bank-roll someones initial FC cost or anything else, so there goes "not being able to pay someone" as well.

Ships/modules are an obvious no, but any other cargo? Absolutely fair game.

This game has 3-4k Steam players all these years. Peaks happen when FDevs release some major updates (say Odyssey DLC, that caused the abovementioned peak), when all those "the game is dying because FDevs don't add what I want" players come to check it out, and then leave again. Then it goes back to 3-4k of Steam players. The game is just fine.

Oh man you're totally right. Well, you are if you are deliberately interpreting everything I said incorrectly.

That's not what the private server was for.
Oh sorry, you can't give ANYTHING OF USE to another player. like idk.. money or modules.

Those degraded signals are for the team effort missions and they're marked that way because it doesn't matter how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ the Anaconda and 4 eagles it throws at you are, they'll kill you if you're in any of the starter fighters. There's no FA-off dancing that's going to save you from that many angles of fire, you're supposed to have a wingman.

Engineering has not even been introduced into the game yet. (yes I'm aware you'll deliberately misinterpret that statement as well, but I'm not wasting any more time on this convo)

Not everyone plays Elite via Steam.... People still use the stand-alone launcher.
