How do you travel to Colonia?
It's about 22000 Ly away from the bubble. By my estimate it takes several hours of back-to-back jumps to get there. What do you do on the journey to avoid dying of boredom? Especially VR players.

(The technical aspect of "how do I pilot my ship there" seems pretty straightforward.)

you can watch movies or some slow paces series at same time.

I mean, the whole point of going out there the conventional way is to enjoy the sights and discoveries along the way. I took my time and actually added more distance to my trip by detouring to visit some nebulae on the way there but if you find that boring, you can always just find a fleet carrier heading out that way and just skip the journey.

Here's what you do

You bring a laser
You jump halfway there
You kill something, anything. Hell, you can piss off the station somehow even without weapons.
Await your swift punishment
You are now in a prison colony slightly closer to Colonia
Rinse and repeat until:
You awake in a prison colony in Colonia.

When you want to return, suicide your way back to the bubble thanks to the option to spawn in a default sidewinder.

You're not making this an appealing trip :) :) :)

I was interested in Jeebs' sights en route though.

How to travel there? Easy!

Hop into a ship, plot a route and then jump to the next system, and again, again, again, over and over and repeat this for approx. 500 times depending of course on your jump range. Don't forget to scan all the systems you pass because you can then sell all that data eventually at the cartographers. It could even earn you quite a sum of credits.

Of course you could also try to hitch a ride on a fleet carrier. In that case you'd need to dock there, wait for several hours and eventually hop out.

I love exploring, but I use my tablet to play podcasts, music, audiobooks, and movies while I'm out in the black.

Before the Engineers were introduced to the game, I spent 4 weeks flying out to Sag A*, and a week flying back... I usually recommend a couple of cold beers and some decent tunes for the journey...

A little over 18 months ago, I hitched a ride on one of my squadron members fleet carriers out to Colonia... Then spent most of that time slowly travelling back using economical route plotting and scanning everything with the FSS... As well as mapping anything remotely interesting... I'd made it about half way home, before the same squad mate picked me up on his way back from his 2nd annual Colonia trip :steammocking:

You can also use the "Colonia Bridge".

Just hop on of the megaships who fly to Colonia and lets them do the rest,
Also look/ask around in the official forum which Fleet Carriers fly to there.

So you can go offline and wake up later in Colonia. :lok_amulet:

1. Fly along the megaship bridge route and enjoy the stations along the way.

2. Or wait until this carrier returns to the bubble (next week), park on it, and wake up in Colonia. (It goes back and forth every fortnight.)

I do the "sights and sounds" approach as mentioned. Discover and scan as many systems as you can along the way and rock out to metal at a loud volume.

It's a trip that can be done in a reasonable amount of time though....

Just fly, in that direction -->.

This is what I meant. If you enjoy exploration then you can easily make 700+ million credits just from the trip there. I took my time and honked every system, discovering all the planets with my FSS and scanning the worthwhile ones.

Along the way I explored planets/moons that seemed like they would yield some interesting screenshots, explored lagrange clouds and other interesting sights. I found the journey to and back more interesting than Colonia and the surrounding regions itself.

If anyone does make it to Colonia I've parked my Alt there permanently as of last week: Carrier 'Peace Force Command' in TIR.

Ricardo's Gaming (streamer) has also parked his alt on board, and the idea is that we team up weekends on his stream from time to time to do ground missions in Colonia together.

Download Desktop + for a lot of reasons

For one it lets you set up windows inside your ship essentially. You can use these for head canon "in ship features" and use things like elite dangerous database and other databases connected to ED to help you find interesting spots to check out or mineral rich systems, current prices, etc...

Secondly, you can watch stuff if you are bored while you hop from system to system.
