However works pretty fine in Odyssey.
However requires personal presence (forming a party), so it's actually not a multi crew.
MC = Telepresence = no to your question
In Odyssey, they have to be "physicaly" boarding your ship.
Then they can take your SRV and roam around, collecting materials and whatnot.
However the materials collected will be in the inventory of the driver, not of the owner of the SRV.
To elaborate on that, is it possible for a multi-crew player to switch to be considered as boarding the ship? The way you and Kosevich are addressing this sort of makes it sound like the process of switching from one state to another might not be too straightforward, but maybe I just don't quite know how this works.
To be honest, the Odyssey version of multicrew can be a bit rough around the edges with how it works since if anything interrupts the connection or causes you both to get disconnected from each other, the crew who were on your ship are teleported back to where they last were before entering your ship, but progress they made with you is carried over (Example: Multicrew with a player with a jump-capable ship then order your ship to go to the system they took you to will leave you without a ship until you get there yourself then board it or use apex to fly you there this time, etc)
"Multi-Crew" means tele-presence, so just invite via UI, session based only.
Odyssey added physical crew (Team or w/e the crap they named it).
So you both need to land on the same planet/station, you need to form a Team (formerly Wing), then both locate your ship on foot, and board it that way.
This will make your friend physically there, so this cannot be done if your friend is on the other side of the galaxy.
