What is the purpose of the Colonia bridge?
It would be slower to stop at each one, so it doesn't reduce any time? You still need a fuel scoop to make the trip?
Are we able to drop exploration data? I would do that every now and then. I might even consider going 90 deg out from one of the ships and using it as a 'base' for exploration.
Less scary to new players to fly out there?
Promote getting people out of the bubble?

You people should consider the storyline of E:D as a story. It doesnt have to be good or bad for the players, its like a book someone writes, while you guys are just random persons in the population. Sometimes someone finds a clue to a mystery, most wont. Some might discover something intersiting, most wont. Because they farm robigo or deliver painite to some station.

It's a fix for Apex rooks. So they could finally plot it from Bubble to Colonia.

In short the answer is "all of the above" and "none of the above" at the same time :steamhappy:

That is the purpose of other community goals story lines?
Other than creating an event for players?

I took my DBX to the first 15 to check them out. If your into exploration, the megaships I stopped at offer Passenger missions and most of them are located near a place where you can mine tritium if your a new FC owner who gets stuck along the route.

Most Tritium I saw in the market was a supply of 12 :P Good luck refueling with that

Yeah, I hit the first few stations in the bridge the day they were added, and they all had 1500 trit each. That didn't last!

I reached Colonia with just 120 tons in my carrier's tank and zero on board. Set up a market buy for 8000 tons at 190k per ton and it was filled in 3-4 hours, which was nice.

As elite is an RPG, the storyline might prove otherwise eventually...

Another aspect here is that you can nowadays plot a direct route from the bubble to Colonia and back if you want to, which kinda makes the whole thing pointless from a player perspective.

Still... I also don't think it'll make that much of a difference either way...

When you know another cmdr heading to Colonia, you can agree to meet up at a certain megaship.

I travelled 6000 ly with another cmdr on the same route, and I stopped my carrier at about 3 of the megaships before continuing, giving them a chance to hop aboard.

I know you can agree to meet in any system, but this also gives them a chance to meet face to face, board a ship and take off to explore a few planets. And you can buy energy cells, med packs, weapons and suits too. And sell exploration data.

Yep, I've seen more commanders asking where the first megaship is already. If it encourages a few more voyagers that's a good thing.

Yah, but I'm not 100% it's good news. Last week I actually encountered gankers in the Colonia system; nitwits who were waiting to trap players coming into the system.

Fortunately they were totally crap at interdiction so in the end it was all but an annoyance, but even so... makes me wonder how much this could have been affected by this bridge. Or maybe I have simply been lucky, who knows... (I don't visit the Colonia system that often...).

Still, that's my cue to plan on heading back home for a while ;) And once I am home I'm gonna get myself the Corvette again since I can now easily afford it ;)

Well, I play solo but I feel you Shelluser... annoying for sure. The only counter measure is probably time (once the bridge hype tones down a bit some of the gankers will get bored and return to the bubble).

I'm going out to Colonia for the first time using the bridge. I had to look up the ship locations though, it's so hard to find the populated systems out there using just the map. You def can drop off exploration data, that's what I've been doing.

I think the idea of a bridge is internally consistent in the lore of the game, it's humanity continuing to expand. Eventually we might see small backwater stations pop up along the rout, then maybe eventually the "bubble" will be more of a dumbbell, two bubbles connected by a long bar

Those gankers probably boarded a carrier to get there, rather than putting in 400 jumps.
