-don't use 3rd party tools to find systems.
the way 3rd party tools work is everything uploaded to them is uploaded by players and have been found.
-leave the bubble (populated space)
you will need to go like 400 light years from sol to find unexplored systems at a good rate. and the further you go the more you will find.
Probably more the 99.9% still: https://twitter.com/elitedangerous/status/1207752551510237186
The key is to try and not do what others would have done. Example... a common jump range is around 40 - 45ly. So if you use that jump range too you could just be following a pre-made track, making shorter jumps can help find the gaps.
Nearest 'new' systems I found were around 1400 - 1600ly from the bubble.
Here's a tip: find two nebulae, then aim for a spot between them and much higher or lower than the galactic plane.
Everyone treats the galaxy map like a flat surface. If you go a lot higher or lower, you'll be flying through areas few have seen.
that's almost just over a year old. gonna need new stats from their end.
went to Sagittarius A and then colonia and found a lot of unexplored systems this way
