It adds more content to the base game but I heard you can play it by itself, meaning I do not think it benefits anything directly in the main game other then like creds and ranks/rep but who knows. I love it though when those say its 'forced'. Its never forced man. You have a choice of doing it or not. That's such a low reach argument. 'Forced', lul.
Although by not playing Horizons you miss out on the guardian stuff which can help gameplay to a certain extent, who knows what you may be missing if you don’t update to Odyssey ?
What I am talking about is, for example, without getting that reactor core piece on foot I wouldn't be able to buy a passenger ship. This is an example of a forced gameplay.
But in all honesty, I don't see how not being able to buy a passanger ship halts progress. ED is a sandbox game. You set your own goals, so if you want something that's only available in Odyssey (much like guardian upgrades are only available via Horizons), then you're obviously gonna have to play it to get what you want. But if you're not interested in it, then I don't understand how what it offers is a problem.
Cuz there's also this. The expansion is all about *walking,* to the point where they said you have the option to never pilot a ship if you don't want to. I really don't see them locking *anything* that's in the base game behind Odyssey.
if pilot`s progress is at disadvantage for not running around with pew pew in hands, it is forced gameplay of first person shooter. i do NOT want to play fps game in any shape or form. if this puts me in disadvantage or even stop from progress in space sim game i played before with success, then it is nothing else than forced way to play game as someone else dictates me. it is very, very simple.
amazing nonsense.
If you only purchase haulers or fighters *after* you get a ship mostly suited for tourism (cuz in reality, any ship can house passanger cabins depending on the grade of the cabin you want to use), then you're doing that to yourself.
But the point, which you completely ignored cuz then you wouldn't have a chance to make such a response, is that it's actually nonsensical to think that they would lock base game content behind the new expansion, especially if it comes to unlocking ships.
After all...
So, uh... Why are people all of a sudden thinking that they'll be forced into playing Odyssey?
