How to clone profiles and stealth?

Everytime I hit R to switch to clone mode the npc gets triggered and yells at me even when they're facing away. So how are we supposed to stealth settlements?
If you have tips please give me some to try :)

Keep more distance, also be sure to sneak.

I have lost alot of money and learn t alot , all part of the game lol .
This guy seems to know what hes doing . I always get spotted and die but thats just one more thing to remember not to do lol .

Pulling out the ID Cloner and using it is equivalent to pulling your gun in the middle of the settlement and firing shots into the sky.

So, you need to be stealthy. You have to ensure your target is alone and isolated, so that nobody else will spot you scanning. And you have to wait for them to settle, then scan them from cover/behind.

Use the radar top-left and check for the white arrows. (If they're yellow or red you're already in trouble.)

There is no sneaking. If you are far enough from any npc with a weapon you can run, sprint, jump, even float around if you know how. Crouching does not mean you are sneaking if you are faster than walking and can hear your boots clomping around.

Observe their routines and know how long a scan takes.

Wait until the npc walks to a panel and starts his animation

stay crouched and scan, meanwhile keep a finger on "holstering"

after that, stay outside of the inner circle of your radar to any npcs who might scan you
ditch your stolen access lvl by opening the item wheel and selecting it (bottom), before you get scanned

As long as noone sees you raising an alarm in a non restricted high lvl room, the guards will leave you after a scan alone, but after some while of ongoing alarm, they might just attack you without further clarification.
