However, as soon as a bought it I headturned to the side and saw that the large vent things on the front of the ship clip through the hallways on the upper inner part of the ship on either side.
Immediately sold it.
Have no shame in autodock, I'm a maniac that lands it manually and usually I ding the armor and I have Reactive armor that costs more than the rest of the ship + the ship itself.
I love my Type 10, its my mining rig. The Power Plant and Armor are your *huge* expenses, but for mining you can actually skimp on that quite a bit. Power Distributor, Thrusters are the big boys. FSD is actually pretty good on it. FSD booster really makes it jump - my Type 10 out-jumps my combat Krait II with 256 tons of cargo and both have boosters.
I'll even give you something useful - the hardpoint and utility slot map!
From top to bottom on your Hardpoint list:
L1, L2, M2, M3 are your top hemisphere.
L3, L4, M1 are your bottom hemisphere.
The S slots are perfectly placed on either side of canopy. The big, beautiful canopy.
Utility slots:
1, 2, 5, 6 are your top hemisphere.
3, 4, 7, 8 are your bottom hemisphere - Point defense in these slots guard your Cargo Hatch from Hatch Breakers.
ASPX is a lot easier for anything involving an SRV, its quite a chore to land a Type 10 on a planet. XD
I can't explain why its so cozy, only that it is. Oh, and if you use it for combat at all, turn flight assist off. Its the only way to pitch, the FA counterbalance thrusters make you turn like a pregnant cow, turning it off enables the grace of a not-pregnant cow.

Thank you very much for the very useful tips!
I bet it's not as bad as landing with a Cutter.
Cutter stops or turns whenever it feels like it. Never when you want it to.
And if one of Cutter's wings even touches one of the lamp posts near landing pads the effect is similar to :

And nothing is more satisfying (IMO) when you deliver cargo, get interdicted and then launch a fighter and let the turrets to their work. So far all of my attackers got blown up, which means... more cash for me (bounty claims).
Although I still own a fully outfitted Type7 (for nostalgia sake, and I actual enjoy flying it) the Type10 is my favorite.
For moving cargo I wasn't planning on buying a ship for just that but, I can get my raiting up with my faction in no time to rank 5, very cool. I can farm killing pirates for huge amounts of space cheddar and to have that feeling of being one nasty Dreadnought, is very appealing to me.
This video sold me on the Type 10 Defender.

It was the first big ship I got, and yeah it was quite the sticker shock when I started A-rating everything, but worth it.
I have never put turrets on it for some reason, but a mix of lasers and multicannons, all lasers long range, MCs regular OC, and a fighter, made CZs fairly easy.
That's a lot of hardpoints, all that pew pew potential :-D
Don't have the reactive armour yet will save up on that next and still need more engineering on the build. Here is an update on her now.
