Hauser's reach lower rewards?
1. Been grinding some passenger missions to Sothis and back to Robigo in my recently bought dolphin and want to buy a nice combat ship. Recently saw a video of a guy who said it's best to buy a vulture so you can work on your combat skills. Not sure if i'm gonna do this or go straight to a FDL or something like that ... maybe something you guys can help me with ... but let's not get off topic ...

2. Reason i made this post is because i gave this game a second chance and came back after 4 years. Maybe even more. 4 years ago i bought a clipper and thought i could maybe outfit it to store more passengers in instead of my dolphin. Did some tweaking here and there but noticed that the rewards you get for passengers in Hauser's Reach (around 1 or 2 mil) are way lower than Robigo Mines(3-5 mil) (so that way it's not really worth taking the clipper).

How is this possible? You can't land the clipper on Robigo Mines so what's the solution here? im sitting on 200m but don't really want to buy a Python just so i can land on Mines and have more storage that way ... Is the clipper that useless or am i just greedy? Do i need to buy a bigger medium ship or is there a different solution to this?

Alsof what the hell is an "Annie"? But i guess python it is for the passenger missions. I just don't like investing in that thing. I read somewhere i will need tot invest everything i got tot make it worth my while.

"Farm Mats"? Why is jump range so important? Shouldn't i invest in the best combat ship possible like the FDL?

This is the ship i was running at start:
https://coriolis.io/outfit/python?code=A0p0tiFflid3ssf5---------mdmdmdmdmdmcmbmb2o3x.Iw18RQ%3D%3D.Aw18RQ%3D%3D..EweloBhBmSQUwIYHMA28QgIwVyKBQA%3D%3D

Feel free to throw out the fuel scoop, i am keeping it there in case i forget to refuel.

3-4 jumps loaded between Robigo and Sothis. If you engineer your FSD for range and put mass manager experimental effect on it, you can make it in 2 jumps, and you can get a higher power distributor to have boost, itll further decrease your total time for one run. You dont need to invest everything, even an unengineered Python will earn you back its price in the first hour assuming you got max standing with the factions in Robigo.

You need a money maker, so a combat ship at first is a limitation. An FDL is good for nothing else than combat, it lacks the internal compartments. Go for multi-role ships, Asp Explorer is a good start, its cheap and has enough compartments and jump range. From there you can upgrade to a Python or Krait, the Python is superior in every aspect but combat. Then you can start going toward the big boys, like the Anaconda (Annie :).

"Engineering mats" are materials you farm to be able to do engineering upgrades. Some are easy to get, some are painful. Its the grinding part of the game.

You can, of course, decide to get a combat ship at any point, just dont jeopardize your credit making capabilities. If you create that Python i suggested, never sell it, just park it in Hauser's Reach when you are bored of passenger missions and use another ship to fly around. Also, mining pays better than passenger hauling, you can use another Python for that. Personally i find passenger hauling more consistent and requires less input.

Robigo mines offers almost exclusively VIP tours of criminal passengers, which pay more. As a bonus, since it's an outpost, it won't scan and kill you for ferrying wanted people.

Aah, so that's why. So my idea of getting my clipper is kinda stupid i guess? Man, wasted 45 minutes equipping and tweaking that thing :(

Next question then: What's a good ship to upgrade to just to store a couple more passenger missions? I can only take 4 groups right now in the dolphin.

An Orca would be a logical choice.

Orca is a large ship, can't land at outposts. The python is the best

Whats the standing you have with the factions in Hauser's Reach? Robigo is indeed 1-5 mil depending on passenger type. You should be able to do passenger hauling optimally with an Annie from Hauser's Reachs but in my experience Robigo is significantly better.

If you take my advice, upgrade your ship to a Python, i am getting 100-120 mil an hour doing passengers between Robigo and Sothis, depending on how many times i pick the high grade engineering mats. Little effort and gets you Imperial standing, exploration rank, engineering mats and credits. Lots of credits. I think i got myself 2.5 bil there, was enough to max my exploration rank.

As for combat ships, i absolutely recommend you invest in a long jumper first, either DBX, AspX or Annie. Combat ships do have abysmal jump range so getting from point A to point B could be time consuming enough for you to consider just going to the place where you want do combat and just farm mats for that half hour while it arrives.

Yeah, i recently came back too, upgraded my HOTAS and i am already out because the game lacks multiplayer and PvP... Oh well, at least i got 2 PvP ships set up for hunting newbs next time i pick up the game.

It's a large ship. There are no medium Saud Kruger ships.

On planets yes, it can land pretty much anywhere - it's a very slim ship. But outposts are out of reach for the Orca.

It's a large ship, but it depends on the outpost if it can land there or not. The thing is: these passenger ships have major advantages over the regular cargo / combat ships which make them worth your while. I can scoop fuel and charge my FSD and jump all in pretty much one go, you can't do that with a Python.

While this may not seem too important at first don't underestimate the time you'll be saving here. Not to mention how easy it'll be be to evade hostiles this way (once charged don't try to escape an interdiction but aim right for the target system, you'll jump right out).

And well... you won't be able to add luxurious passenger cabins to any other ships besides Dolphin, Orca and the Beluga liner. And that's where the serious money with passenger runs is made.

If you want to get the most out of passenger runs you'll want Saud Kruger.

Omg i was 100% sure it was a medium ship??

Where do you find those luxurious passengers, I almost never see any?

If I recall correctly I found some in Ohm city, in the LHS 20 (?) system. That station has a lot of stuff (and ships!) for sale and some players also told me you get a 10 (or 15%) discount there as well.

Keep in mind though: it's a fairly populated area, I've always saw players online in there so you might want to keep this in mind if you play open (I started doing that and never had any issues there though). The other thing: I'm pretty sure that you can only buy these cabins using a passenger ship, also because they only fit on those ships.
