How to spot Deep core?
i've read so many guides and watched so many guides here and i am wondering if i am doing something wrong.
I can spend more than a hour between finding deep core roids. does it really takes this long?
If you DC mine, it does'nt matter what kind of roids rings you look after, but if i want to make money laser mining its metallic.
Rings are either major or pristine reserves.

1: i use scanner in fsd mode to find hot spot in rings.
2: target the found hot spot and drops out of fds in hte middle of it.
3: flying below or top and pulse scans as much as i can while flying towards the planet.
4: the ones i find is more out of sheer luck i think.
5: can fly straight for a hour and use 60 probes without finding a single DC- roid.

Its not how to mine the roids i have problems with, its FINDING the damn roids.

Why would you use limpets when core mining? Limpets are only useful when laser mining, they tell you something about the asteroids contents and will even give you more materials when mining.

Use a pulse scanner and some asteroids should lit up. If that doesn't happen maybe try relogging (disconnect & reconnect). Then concentrate on the yellow lit up asteroids.

Also while you are at it: note you can equip 2 Prospector launcher so you can tag more of the highlighted asteroids. (ONLY target astroids highlighted by pulse scanner).
Higher Level prospector launchers also allow more than 1 active prospector.

I would say on average it takes 15 minutes finding a deep core spot.
(Note that includes that it might take up to half an hour if you have bad luck)

They'll tell you if there's subsurface deposits or fissures, unless you'd rather fly close and around it to look at the surface for them manually. And knowing the strength of the fissures for the core charges.

Right now there's a known bug with the pulse scanner that doesn't light up asteroids that should be lighting up until you've driven past them already. Some people say they can get it to work like normal by driving extremely slow but I haven't been able to get that effect.

This could be part of your problem. Mining is a real bastard right now because of it.

It also seems to me that deep core asteroids are a lot more rare in metallic or metal rich rings than they are in icy rings.

This. Laser mine the hell out of Painite until they fix core mining.

well i do free look while moving ahead with 150m/sec, and majority of the ones i do find ending up with are someone i have to turn around to get to.

Would i have better luck finding cores in icy belts, you say?

And will i be able to laser mine painite in a painite hotspot in a ring?

I used this guide for mastering the icy deep cores. Mostly void opels.

https://www.yekbot.com/elite-dangerous-a-visual-guide-for-deep-core-mining/

But as previous post already said the Pulse wave has a bug. I show 9 out of 10 the asteroids behind you. After about 1H of mining I had 32T of opels. I thought the hot spot was mined out.

I'm new to mining but I can usually find 2-3 core in an hour. When you scan the asteriods with pulse wave those that light up only mean it's rich in material, it could be rich in surface or sub-surface but doesn't mean it has a core. Don't waste any prospector limpet on an asteriod just because it lights up. Look for something that has shape of a pop corn. Next you want to identify it has a least a few fissures around and on the surface. Kinda looks like darker shades in the shape of a spider web, hard to spot in regular view but looks more obvious when you turn on night vision: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1593415736

One thing I know at the time of writing is that there only a subset of asteroid models that can have deep cores. (i.e. deep cores roids have the same shape most of the time. This differs between ring types).

Other tips that get thrown around are to always be facing toward the local star when doing your pulse analyser scanning. Supposedly things light up better that way.

A deep core asteroid will tend to stay very bright in pulse analysis no matter what distance you are from it. Many asteroids that are fake outs tend to get dimmer as you get close.

Hi all, &sorry 4 my english. :) Have a problem of finding deep core asteroids too. Few days ago I find and mine opals normally, but now I travel through ~5 systems with deep core opals mining points, and use ~300 probs in the asteroids, that pulse scanner lights up.
I find only water, thritium and ohter sh*t, no opals cores. :(
There is my great bad luck or such a bug?

As far as I know there is a bug with the pulse wave. There are alot of poeple talking about it here.
For some reason the pulse wave will only light up the asteroids behind you.
Some people managed to fix it by flying really slow, others will just turn around every 5K.
