Yet it functions exactly like a ship's fusion reactor. Constant fuel use even when idle; Does not increase with load like movement, but does decrease if you depower modules. And just what atmosphere would a combustion engine burn on all these lifeless planets we explore anyways..?
So your SRV does in fact use Hydrogen as fuel. Why it can't top up from the ship's reserves I'm not sure...
Its a video game. How is that have anything to do with what powers the vehicle anyway?
They mean "It doesnt have a lot of what i to play". Very few games in 2017 lack content.
*shrug* I like pointing out inconsistencies...
And, for all of E:D's faults, one thing I do have to appreciate is the attention to detail in the technology's lore. As far as 'hard' scifi goes, E:D's pretty up there with sticking to scientific principles that at least have a theoretical basis in reality (Another thing I like about the game/universe).
Of course, the devs could come out and say anything. But there's really very little basis to say the SRV isn't powered by thermonuclear fusion -- nothing adds up for conventional combustion engines (I would even say the idea of running one without atmosphere is ridiculous), yet everything's very consistent for reactor operation.
For that matter, claiming SRVs are battery operated would make more sense than that. Not very much sense, since fuel labeled as hydrogen is still consumed at a constant rate, but more sense than combustion.
Not very plausible; it would take far, far more o2 burning hydrocarbons than keeping a human alive. There's also a distinct lack of exhaust. And, the fuel is still labeled as hydrogen.
So it seems xD
If I'm planning on doing hardcore surface exploring I always pack a few of them SRV's, at least 2 but ideally 4. So I just swap and take a new one every time the old one gets damaged/ low on fuel. By doing that you can avoid spending unnecessary resources, even though they are extremely common.
