Modified Consumer Firmware - find it where?
So I'm after the Modified Consumer Firmware thingie, as I'd like to try the second level of cannon mods at Tod. I see at Inara that it is a common element, can get it at signal sources and settlement data points. I seem not to have any luck thought - tried many signal sources, but do not really know what type I should look for. And I have no idea what the settlement data points are.

Any help with this would be appreciated!

Thanks!

cause that one is also a mission reward! can easily be farmed at a station that offers them as a reward

You get ot from scanning data points on planet surfaces, and from missions.

Planetary bases. Scan data points to receive all kinds of rare data goodies, including that one.

signal sources can carry personal data nodes which have it too :)

Bases come in a number of flavors and security ratings; the lower the rating the easier they are to scan. I've never seen a base with less than 3 data points that needed to be scanned in order to complete the process and be awarded various types of data. They take a bit of practice, but they're worth it.

They can be found pretty easily by scanning the data points in medium size (++) planetary settlements. I tried to find them in the larger (+++) and smaller (+) settlements, but couldn't find any.

Balandin Gateway @ Rhea - Scan the satallites.

Scan private data beacons at signal sources. (Encoded and Degraded) - Sometimes you get cargo, but not most of the time.

Take missions that offer it as a reward.

Use a data materials trader to trade up or down.
