Is there no way to transfer an SRV to a new vehicle hangar?
Newer player here, I bought a new hangar thinking it would just take the place of the old one and my SRV would automatically be in it. The game notified me my new hangar had no vehicle bays in it. Alright, I guess I have to take the vehicle out of the old hangar first and store it individually, I thought. I put the old hangar back in, but I could find no way to actually remove the SRV from it.

Is this actually how it works? Once an SRV is in a vehicle hangar, it's married to it and you have to buy a new SRV along with a new hangar even though you already have a perfectly good SRV in your old hangar? Or am I missing something?

You can sell and buy a new srv without loss of you are that tight on Money. But why buy a different hangar?

You cannot store SRVs. As such, you will need to purchase new SRVs when you upgrade (or downgrade) your bay. You may move your bay module to a different class module slot without worrying about the vehicles, although putting a class 4 SRV bay into say, a class 5 module slot is a waste and pointless unless you simply lack an appropriately sized module slot. Anyway, yeah -- when you get a new SRV bay, you'll need to re-customize your SRVs. For me, this means reapplying my preferred paintjobs, weapon colors, and decals... every time. Luckily, I don't remove this module much, but I agree that it's annoying.

SRVs and SLFs are treated like ammo.

you can always sell the srv and buy another one for your other ship.

I wanted to buy the lighter hangar for the boost in jump distance and flight speed, since I had the power to spare. I can't trade in my existing one for credits because it's the starting "(loaned)" hangar that trades for 0 credits (so I may as well just store it).

yeah... the starting ship is all "loaned' and the components aren't worth anything. its to prevent the exploit of killing yourself taking the free ship and selling it over and over and making money.

That makes no sense what so ever.

First: the thread you necro'd is 6 years old. But second: you can't buy an SRV without having a planetary hangar to put it in. Doesn't matter if it's a Scarab or Scorpion. So... you're raising problems which aren't there.

Not necessarily true. If you wanted to transfer that scorpion to a different ship or change the module slot for your hangar, you'd have to repurchase the scorpion. It's not exactly a huge issue, but it is an issue.

You can store a hangar with an SRV in, and when you refit the hangar from storage the SRV will be there.

The SRV is tied to the hangar you bought it for though.

Ah, I did not know that! Thanks! Still weird you can't store the SRV though. Very inconvenient as Scorpions are harder to come by.

Military ground ports have them in outfitting.

I normally keep 1 scorpion and 1 scarab in each dual-vehicle hangar.

and in which situations you preferred the scorpion over the scarab?

i dont really see the point in the scorpion?
in massacre missions the scarab do his job,
same with exobiologyy or guardian rouines..

Where I would choose the scorpion:

Missions at Horizons settlements (e.g. discreet power failure.)
Shooting down system defence ships
Climbing steeper hills than the scarab when exploring (try it)
Two player gameplay
Running over enemies instead of shooting them

At guardian ruins I use the Scorp to clear the skimmers, then the scarab to collect guardian objects + activate the pylons.

The moment you expect to encounter hostiles; it has better armor and its shots pack a little more punch than the Scarab. Another pro (IMO) is that because it's heavier it also has less tendencies to spin out of control like the Scarab often does.

There's only one downside to the Scarab I think and that's the rocketlauncher. You'd expect this to wipe out a group of on foot hostiles but naah.
