Steam Controller

Xbox One View button equivalent on Steam Controller?
The game I'm playing, Divinity Original Sin 2, needs me to press the Xbox One "View button", the symbol for the view button is two boxes, but I don't now how to do that with the Steam Controller. I tried pressing the left triangle button on the Steam Controller but that doesn't seem do anything.

Can I remap my select/left triangle button to function like a Xbox One View button? All of the rest of the buttons and stuff work, I just can't do anything that needs me to press View.

Edit: Clarified that left triangle doesn't seem to work in place of View button.

Edit 2:The left trigangle button works fine for me in game; it opens the map like it's supposed to. It's just doesn't work to open the connectivity menu when hosting a game lobby.

I believe it is the Back/Select button, on the left side of the controller.

Thanks for the reply ThreeSon. I tried to press the left triangle button on my Steam Controller since it's kinda in the same spot as the Xbox One View button but that doesn't seem to work.

Either your Steam Controller isn't configured properly, or the button is broken. Try going into the Big Picture Mode main menu, and go into the menu for the Steam controller. Use the SUpport option right next to the Verify option.

Why can we not just call them start and select like the old days! For the SC, it even calls it start and select in the config UI... :steamsad: Sorry I just think it's silly, that's all. :steammocking:

I'm wondering if this person is relatively new to gaming in general. It's the only reason I can think of that you wouldn't call them that. It's been Start and Select, or Start and Back for a looong time.

lol. No, just didn't know what to call it so everyone recognizes it since it's not labeled with words on the controller. From the config screen I know it's called select but wasn't sure everyone else knew that. Left triangle seems to be universal in both the config screen and from looking at the controller itself.

Then the XBox One and PS4 came all.g an changed that... What were engineers at Sony thinking when they designed the DS4 why share and options buttons (well the options one I kind of understand), but forcing the share function into your hand, you had to fight YEARS of muscle memory.

Just checked using the support option to test all my buttons and they all work fine. It looks like this may be a bug in the game.

So far the only time the "select" left triangle button doesn't work is when I am trying to open the connectivity window for hosting the game. Once I am in the game the select left triangle button works fine to open the map.

I must ask, is it bound to the map key for the game, like Tab or whatever it is or is it bound to the controller select/back button? I dont have that one so I am not sure but that seems similar to things I have seen before.

You're describing the exact reason I thought you might be a bit newer to video games, at least on consoles anyway. Anybody who played NES, SNES, Playstation, PS2, PS3, and others would easily recognize the start and selecft names. Heck, anyone who knows about the Konami Code would know what they were.
