I'm pulling my hair out. Can't remap bumper / trigger buttons successfully in big picture.

I can successfully remap all controls in big picture except the bumpers and triggers. Big picture lets me remap anything I want in the menu, but when I actually play the game, everything is successfully remapped but the bumpers / triggers. Both Mad Max and Farcry 4 and 5 I've tried it with with without success.

I've tried with all 360, X-1 and PS4 controllers without success.

I have physical limitations that limit me to playing with a gamepad and I always have to be able to remap the layout or I can't play. It really sucks. I've spent the last 24 hours looking for a solution without avail.

*Note: Steam support suggested I post in this thread instead of general where I did post earlier today. I did contact Steam to ask that my general thread be deleted as to not double post.

For the triggers you probably need to make sure the analog is turned off. I'm not sure about the bumpers though.

Of course!

I've since deleted the game I was trying to use this config for since I couldn't get it to work and therefore couldn't play. So I just remade it using Isaac as the game. Here is what I was trying. There is also an action layer involved that's triggered by pressing the left trigger and thanks again. steam://controllerconfig/250900/1394140839

Well, I thought it might help since it is something easy to overlook. I don't have any of those games, so I don't have a way to check them out. You might try checking their discussions pages to see if anyone else has had the same issue.

I am in a similar situation, can anyone help? I need L2 to function as R2 and vice versa, but, the remapping won't allow this/

I have installed FC4 just to check.

It works for me, maybe you forgot to activate:
1.open big picture mode
1. controller settings -> "xbox configuration support".
2.select game from library
3.manage game -> controller configuration ( i used bimmers e39 community config)
steam://controllerconfig/298110/1384324341

make sure to use and xbox config and not a steam controller one (show hide controllertypes with "y" )

4.start game

I bought ubisoft games in steam and steam is running in big pic mode (if you didn't do that you need to add fc4 as a non steam game or the uplay as a non steam game , knowing that uplay is a bit dodgy with steam running in parallel).

The FC4 doesn't have problems with analog controlls or xinput.

BTW this is a steam controller forum, gamespecific problems should be posted in the games forum.

Could you be a lifesaver and upload a config where R2 will function as L2 and Vice Versa?

Looks like I’m 5 years too late here… but if you click the gear icon for the trigger in Steam Input, you can change the analog behavior.
