Wow.
I understand that you are merely making a statement but that statement implies that I was judging someone, which I was not. You, on the other hand, very clearly have.
Should I say: to you?
Well I am a youtube partner with Maker Studios and I do monetize my videos, I don't make a lot just very little and it's all random, but getting my stuff content ID'd would just blow chunks.
I do enjoy youtube a hobby but the money is a bonus to that hobby.
Interesting website I found for Maker Studios. Anyway, they legally can't do anything if you follow a couple simple rules:
Make your content your content.
When the gameplay is on the screen, so is the game creator/publisher.
Generally speaking, if what you are doing can legitimately be considering adding to the experience or altering the experience in such a way that nobody can claim your experience removes the need for others to pay for the game, then there's no legal argument they can make. Provided it is your content that is available and not just their content. I'm sure with such high profile individuals as Pewdie Pie, they probably have lawyers who already know this.
If you're walking that fine edge, don't just ask for permission: get it in writing.
Oh i know, i have about 4,320 subs, i'm not very big, i've been at it for a while but with all the crazy content ID bot crap a lot of legit channels have been hit, mine recently too.
Now i have to completely re-do one of my playthroughs that's chalked up tons of views because of Content ID muted a video of mine. it really sucks.
What did it mute it for? The music in the game? That's understandable, though, since the music is licensed to the developer for "certain markets". It's why some games have different music in the states. If a composer has an agreement with a company that his or her music is released as part of the game in just a few countries, then playing a significant amount outside of those countries (ie: Youtube) is a problem. You can, however, play little blurbs as that is protected under fair use in the USA, where Youtube is HQ.
Otherwise, I dunno.
Incidentally, the music thing is also an issue with localization. If a company what's to license, localize and distribute a game in the USA, they necessarily just deal with the publisher -- they deal with the developer and the composer, especially if the publisher only has rights in certain countries. This is also why you'll find a CD or DVD in the USA released by one company but you go to Japan and the same item is released by a competing company. That is, in fact, the entire purpose of region-locking a game console or DVD player.
Yup music in the game, only way i've been able to get around that in my recent jedi knight playthrough was to lower the volume.
That is also a good trick. You can turn the volume back up, but for 3-7 seconds at most and you have to be speaking specifically about the music. Remember the music is a separate deal than the development of the game and typically has a far stricter usage policy. I'm sure you're aware there are usually soundtracks available for many games, so anything that might take away sales -- such as a rippable video -- are potentially harmful.
Thanks addblocker, I'll never "pay" for that and no one should.
You really like to be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ don't you?
They didn't seem to mind my Dragon Ball Xenoverse playthrough, so I just want to make totally sure that it's okay for us youtubers to also monetize on tales.
Normally I would tell you to go here
http://forums.bandainamcogames.com/forum.php
as thats the location that Bandai Namco actually looks at post rather than on steam forums, however they were just forum bombed hardcore so it might not be the best bet right now.
