Y'know, I could totally see this becoming a thing in a future Tales/Star Ocean/<insert similar rpg here>
Duke 3d, quake, shadow warrior, damn dude those were the time for lanning.
But mostly it's because of Call of Doodie and Halo. War has changed. People have changed.
... I miss Team Fortress.
It's the same kind of feeling when I realize kids are growing up without watching Looney Tunes or saturday morning cartoons like The Tick, Power Rangers/<similar shows>, TMNT, Spiderman, Xmen, Batman, Animaniacs, GI Joe, Mario Bros Super Show (they're popular in "youtube poops" and memes atleast), Sonic (2nd tv series, that one with Princess Sally).
And ALF, Howard the Duck and Neverending Story & Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
Oh no... I just realized so many people will never see this great show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNR4hKbSH7I
I feel so old now.
*goes to cry into his TMNT lunchbox over in a corner wearing his ALF shirt
Duke Nukem and Mortal Kombat were supposed to corrupt children of the 90's, but I don't see that having happened.
There's so much awesomeness to speak of but i'm tired at the moment so will provide a half ass response.
THANK YOU FOR BRINGING UP THESE CARTOONS. You won't believe the amount of people that I talk to that have never seen any of those cartoons. Nowadays people are super obessed with anime. I'm really saddan that (not literally) nobody pays a tribute to cartoons. I would love to talk more about them, cartoons were a great part of my life. I almost watched all of them within the regions of US and Canada. I live in Canada and we were given a lot more amazing cartoons than most Americans ever gotten to seen. (To name a few) Stickin' Around, untalkative bunny, and Cyber six.
I leave myself with this before I sleep;

I don't hate him (he IS entertaining, especially if you turn his videos into a drinking contest), I'm also not a "fan" of his but I'll still take PewDiePie videos over almost any American brodcast shows *currently* airing (not reruns).
... Yeah I'm talkin' 'bout you Honey Boo Boo!
I know we can do better (read: worse). It's human nature to do "something" better than someone else, even if that "something" is about being the new "low" of all time, Humanity's Greatest Hits (volume: not since last week).
But this is getting off-topic.
And speaking of off-topic, I'd like to see a feature of the PS4 come to other consoles/steam--Streamers can pass the controls over for a limited amount of time. If you think outside the box a bit, there is the potential for some interesting things.
A collaboration game, like those stories you probably made in English class where each person adds to the story of what the previous person wrote. Almost like the game "Elegy for a Dead World" but for any genre.
Or to do something like "Twitch Plays..."
Or make it an actual gameplay mechanic beyond the usual mind-control shtick. Think team based tactical FPS somehow mixed with clairvoyance and body possession like something from ghostbusters.
Such good times.
I think I know why anime is more popular now. There's very few "recent" cartoons that can compare to anime. Back in saturday morning cartoon days, there was barely any localized anime. I think I remember seeing an episode or two of Dragonball (z?) from the first english dub in Saban's show block. The only other way to watch anime that I knew of was Sunday morning around 10am CST on the Sci-fi channel. This had the good stuff, Aeon Flux, Robotech, Record of Lodoss War, Escaflowne, Akira, Iria, and fricken VAMPIRE HUNTER D. This was some great secret treasure for a boy 7-10 years old and their parents slept til noon (they hated Ren & Stimpy so they would have never let me watch stuff like this back then).
Not that I'm complaining, I like and watch alot of anime, but a good show is a good show. Thanks to the internet, good shows gain popularity by word of mouth which leads to "safer" risks to localize shows already made (read: cheaper to modify something than to make from scratch).
Sadly, these "new" shows simply do not have that same, for lack of a better word, feeling (it's that indescribable "special something")
To know if your guest joinned the session successfully there should be an extra controller in the settings from the menu. For example, Host and Guest are using a controller. The settings will show gamepad(1) and gamepad (2). I will try to get a screen capture next time I play with a buddy.
I used a xbox one controller, if you can verify me a xbox360 controller works that would be great!
I wanted to make a video but that is kinda complicated since I would have to record from both host and guest's side of things.
Love reboot and beast wars, did you know reboot is coming back? :)
I haven't kept up much with televsisions and cartoons nowadays but from previews of them, the recent cartoons really do not look that bad. I don't have time for tv shows but I really want to get around watching Archer, Amazing world of gumball, rest of adventure time, rick & morty and so on.
They hated Ren and stimpy? Aw you missed out on some amazing cartoons. Futurama, Duck Man, Mission Hill, Oblongs, The Ripping friends, Cow and Chicken, and courage the cowardly dog.
I hate to bring up my reason why I personality dislike anime (since if anybody says one bad thing about anime, they will ♥♥♥♥ you up) but, I really dislike the animation of most anime. They draw less pictures. Everything is more choppy. Everything is usually 'still frames' and repetitive keyframes x10 more than the scrolling background of your Jetsons & flizstone. When I personally watch animation, I watch it for the animation, everything else is a bonus. Just like when I play a game, I play it for the game play, everything else is a bonus. Of course this is my subjective view and you can do whatever you wish in your best interest.
Some of the most amazing animations is animaics & Ed, Edd, and Eddy.
*Mr. Burns: Eeeeexcelent.*
They did hate Ren and Stimpy, but allowed me to watch them as long as I didn't start a booger collection under the table. I think it was mostly because of the Powdered Toast Man segments where he does his nipple.... thing. I watched everything else you listed (forgot about Duck Man, also a fav but never aired "in my bed time" so I had to be sneaky. And Courage is totally underrated (but it came out along side Dexter's Laboratory and Power Puff Girls).
Yeah us Anime fans will gut you like a fish if you say something "bad" (different for everyone :P)
I totally understand what you mean about "poor animation", but I think it applies everywhere.
Best example I can think of for anime is Dragon Ball Super. Yes, the "official" sequel to DBZ. Absolute CRAP animation after the first few episodes. This is just my opinion, but in general I believe this varying animation quality is mostly because being an animator involves harsh working hours/conditions/deadlines.

This basically explains the better than the rest of the show/film, and has a great example of a particular series. The whole video is interesting too.
The animation in Animaniacs or Ed, Edd, & Eddy never stood out to me as being something better than most other cartoons of that era, but it was clean, fluid and dynamic.
There is defenetly "better" animations now, and even "beter" in the future.
Some of my favorites are:
Redline
Sword of the Stranger
Mind game
Kaiba
One Piece, Movie 6: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island (Not only is the animation totally different than typical One Piece, but so is the overall tone)
