Can't open the game
Alright, so I pre-ordered the game on Steam. Last night I installed it, and clicked play. It gives that "Preparing to launch Tales of Zestiria..." message, closes about a second later, and nothing happens. Tried restarting Steam, no luck. Restarted PC, no good. Today I deleted the game and reinstalled it, still no luck.

Now I went into the local files to see if something was up. I clicked Tales of Zestiria.exe, which gives me the following message: "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."

After a quick google search, it has something to do with dll files. I found a similiar tread to this about the same problem in some other games like GTAV. There a found some dll files that apparently helped that guy. Downloaded them, put them in the SysWOW64 folder with the other dll files, aaaaaand... Still nothing. There was one dll file that I couldn't replace as for some reason I wasn't allowed to; msvcr100_clr0400.dll. Now I'm kinda at a loss for what to do.

My PC runs Windows 10, with 64 bit capability, if that helps anything. Any ideas would be appreciated, was really looking forward to this game.

No, don't ever download and put anything in SysWOW64 or System32 manually, EVER, period. This is coming from someone with 20 years of development experience on Windows. You may not hear this prhase often these days, but you are writing yourself a one-way ticket to DLL hell.

Use the Visual C++ Redistributable installer that came with the game if you think that you are missing a DLL. It's in

Tales of Zestiria\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010\vcredist_x86.exe
Tales of Zestiria\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2012\vcredist_x86.exe

If you ever do feel the need to put a DLL in SysWoW64 or System32 immediately stop and put it in the same directory as the .exe file you are trying to fix instead. Otherwise, you're going to hose your system.

Well, I'll certainly remember that DLL tip for the future then, thanks! I used the Visual C++ Redistributable like you suggested, but I still get the same error:

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.

If you know something about that too, I'd love to hear it. I really hope I didn't waste 50 bucks...

Try downloading and running this:

https://github.com/Kaldaien/tzf/releases/tag/tzf_001

I've been told the stop error goes away after you run that. I'm not entirely convinced, this seems like it's crashing much too soon for the problem that tool corrects to blame.

hmm. i think it might be related to xinput. try removing x_input1_3.dll and reinstall direct x

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35&44F86079-8679-400C-BFF2-9CA5F2BCBDFC=1

that should replace the msvcr100_clr0400.dll

Yeah, still got the same problem. Again, thanks for trying though. I've never been a wizzard when it comes to computer files, but usually Google can get me through. First time I really can't get a program to work... and a somewhat expensive one too. If you have any other ideas, I'd love to hear them. Thanks again!

Tried that before, doesn't seem to change anything sadly. Still the same error, but thanks nonetheless.

i added you as a friend as i would have to know what all you have tried before suggesting alot of possible fixes. going through all options would be time consuming in the thread :D

Have either of you found a resolution to this problem? I have a friend who is experiencing the same thing. Any advice would appreciated, thanks in advance.
