If you aren't against emulation, there are LOTS of great Tales games on older consoles, from the Snes to the PS2 (all of them perfectly playable on emulators).
That said if they start dumping all the games on PC , I'll just throw my money on the screen. :p native port >>>> emulation, after all. ^^
Nothing wrong with emulation. There're plenty of emulators on my hard drive (PS1, SNES, Genesis etc) and I still have a PS2. I really wonder why I haven't heard of Tales earlier. O.o I played loads of JRPGs back in the day, like Breath of Fire, Dragon Quest, Grandia, Dark Cloud...... :)
-Tales of Phantasia - Snes or PSX. You have to get the game and the translation patch. I recommend the PX version, since it's improved in almost every way, but the Snes one is easier to find. The game itself is a bit rough in a few areas, but has an AMAZING story and VERY memorable characters;
-Tales of Destiny - PSX. One of the best in the series. Look kinda Snes-ish, but it's an amazing game nonetheless. Was released in the US, so you don't have to bother with a translation patch.
-Tales of Eternia (PSP) or Tales of Destiny 2 (PSX). Both are the same game (ToD 2 was the name of ToE in the US). I like the Playstation emulator better, so I recommend that version. The game is great too. The story is a bit simpler than the earlier games, however.
-Tales of Symphonia. Out TODAY on PC. :p One of the best games ever, and the best in the series TO ME. Great story, fantastic characters and an updated battle system that is even more fun to play;
-Tales of Legendia (PS2). Runs perfect on the emulator, but since you have a PS2, it's even better. The game is more like a 3D version of the earlier games, since it lost a few things that Symphonia introduced, but it IS a fun game to play. The story is kinda goofy. This is considered one of the worst games in the series, and I kinda agree.
-Tales of the Abyss (PS2). This is the exact oposite of the last one. Has a more serious story, a VERY updated gameplay (to me, this game has the best battle system out of all Tales of games). The character development is perfect, and this game has the most skits in all the games. TO ME, this is the second best game in the series.
These are all the games that can be played on PC in English.
Innocence was never released in English, Vesperia (amazing game, BTW) is on the Xbox 360, Hearts is on VIta (the only one I don't know ANYTHING about), Graces is on PS3 (good game, just a bit cliché), Xillia and Xilia 2 are quite good, but PS3-only.
It worked for me from day 1. There were issues because I was using Windows 7 but they got patched. I think the crashing problems generally comes from extra softwares in the system (mostly anti-virus) not working well with it; not that it's anything surprising consider antivirus and games never really get along on day 1.
AV software serves no real purpose, it just destroys trust with clients.
hi kald! did you watch jims youtube vid on tos? hahah made me so laugh esp near end..
what is this fist of the north star? cause they be jagged! lol
ahem
I frankly don't even care anymore. I started working on Dragon's Dogma, and it's on track to become the same sort of quality as TZFix was. I like games that have graphical issues that need polish, I don't like games that require liberally applying sandpaper to one's eyes to be able to ignore the problems a game has.
Either way, I'm dedicating my time to games I think have a glimmer of hope. Just Cause 3 because of its DRM and now Tales of Symphonia too, are projects I cannot and will not support. I wanted to fix Just Cause 3, but Denuvo says otherwise... so that game's basically in the trash right now, which is also where apparently Symphonia belongs.
denuvo needs to go away.. shrug
also why the hell did they put a DRM on friggen TOS makes no sense
anyway lol
DD ill have to look into that once you do your thing
I do have some issues with TOZ and your fix maybe a pm would be better?
just we can use dolphin and play gc ver.. or just hook my gc up and get 60fps ffs
the 720 fix wasnt tested to 1080 jim even says so on the plugin page. if you read it.. tested only 720, not higher, again increasing res wont make the game look better its just going to fit the screen is all..
wont make it any more detailed.
and btw i cant use getsoda.. i mean gedosato.
some actually cant due to WIN 10
read here
UEFI Secure BOot is locked via BIOS
if this is true the tool wont work,
i could link u to tons of people with an issue of it being locked as we cant turn it off and the tool requires it to be OFF..
sadly on this new mobo, a good one, its stuck in the on position, locked, on , no way to click it off in bios.
grrs
google" bios gedosato".. etc..
Beyond what have already been there (DRM, resolution/FPS, localization), there is nothing. There used to be a heavy lag in some menus for Windows 7 but that got fixed within a day. Game itself runs smooth as butter and behind the heavy DRM it's still the Tales of Symphonia that I looked forward to play for a decade.
The EULA for all Bandai Namco games forbids modding, in fact, the way it is written the Steam overlay itself is a violation of the EULA (it injects code into the game while it is running). Try to take these things lightly, because they are 100% meaningless and written by people who know nothing about software.
