Is this game worth playing?
I'm currently playing Tales of Berseria and i'm enjoying it thus far. Should I play this too or should I just skip it?

It is slightly less polished than Berseria but it is worth playing. By the way, Berseria and Zestiria are sort of related. Zestiria takes place 1000 years after the events of Berseria. Even though there will be a lot of connections between the two game, both stories are standalone, so it is okay to enjoy the games without needing to know the other one.

If you enjoyed Berseria you will(most likely) hate the battle system in Zestiria. The games do not have that much in common - the world is different(1000 years apart), the setting is different(you're the good guy), the battle system is different so all it's really worth is the story itself
I've done Berseria twice and will do a third, but I'm around 20h in Zestiria and seriously thinking about dropping the game thanks to the poor and broken battles

You meant the world is the same, but different timeline

Eh, the battles are not so bad. You just need to know what weakness to use and all that. Other tales did the same in their own way and while Zestiria is somewhat different in "originality", it's not so horrible. I also heard the whole "the main guy is a good guy" many times. It's not bad.

I won't say Zestiria is the best Tales ever but it has its Tales feel alright. I'd say it's alright but the top down (rather, back view) camera is really what bothers me the most in this game. Tales always have been side ways, which is a thing every other Tales I played have at least done right.

I enojoyed both Berseria and Zestiria.

The notable things Zestiria does worse than Berseria are:
  • More empty-feeling world space
  • Bland copy-paste dungeons (not the main dungeons though)
  • Worse item stats system which is burdensome to get optimal stats out of, though it doesn't really matter unless playing on high difficulties

But those are just the bad things - the game is actually quite enjoyable, imo. It's not the best Tales game, but it's a good JRPG.

The notable things Zestiria does BETTER than Berseria are:
  • Better soundtrack
  • Contains slightly more dungeons that have puzzle. Berseria's dungeon are much more linear overall.
  • Slightly more open world design.

Oh man yes, the soundtrack is awesome, especially more toward the end of the game in Glaivend Basin. I literally went back there to grind when I didn't need to, just to enjoy the epic music. I was sad that Berseria didn't have anything like this.

Just FYI, beside the OP's name is a mouse icon which means they do own the game now, so it's likely they have already begun playing it.

Meh, I suppose I didn't word myself properly - I include battle difficulty in the battle system. And if a 44 lvl boss one-shots your 44 lvl party(despite having all the orbs you can at the moment - in all honesty Sorey survived with 500 hp... but really now) I find it a pretty bad battle system. Even more so that tunning down the difficulty to the lowest doesn't really change much. Fun part is that even if they gave you 5 hp per lvl up it would be all good... but they don't

Well, if the shape of the world(map) changes a lot, then it's a different world - wouldn't you agree?

No, but it's better than Xillia 2 was at least.
