This joke is Bandai Namco. They disable sharing (both screenshots and streaming) on all their PS4 titles as well. Steam doesn't have a way to disable streaming in the way that they wanted it, so this type of solution was hacked up instead.
It's also done in the worst way possible. The entire game is still running beneath that screen, but control has been locked out, which means you're likely to die if this happens to you mid-battle.
Get Kaldaien's unofficial TZFix. It works around this idiocy.
Ahem, not hacked... you still need a valid copy of the game. This just modifies the game while it's runnign to add features.
I am talking about the general issue.
Companies punish paying customers while pirates get their content without being bugged all the time. e.g. movies .. (FBI warnings, unskipable trailers... etcpp.)
The only possible reason for that could be strict licensing on the japanese vocal work requiring Bamco to prevent third-party republlications, as would be the case with streaming.
On the PS4 crucibles are the only spot in the game that have the sharing functionality enabled and afaik you are allowed to both take screenshots and stream while inside them. So here's the thing:
if this were a licensing issue for the JP vocal work, then crucibles would not have been exempted from the sharing lock, becuase they use part of the JP vocal work as well.
There's a simple reason why sharing functionality is disabled everywhere else:
There are plenty of people that would rather watch the game's storyline via YouTube'd let's play sessions than actually buy the game. I.e. preventing streaming may help to increase number of copies sold.
Why disable screenshots on PS4 as well then? Well; that's because you cannot separately disable streaming. You can only disable them both at once by disabling the entire sharing functionality. And that's what Bamco did.
They actually do this for all their games that are primarily single-player games. And I do not buy the fact that for all of those titles this would be because of 'licensing issues'.
Opt out of the Steam Client Beta in Steam>Settings. It'll downgrade you to the last stable build of Steam, which has the game working for me. (It was broken on the Beta version before. I personally had to roll back.)
All you can do is exit out the game by forcing it to quit with the overlay, are these devs out of their minds?
Im boycotting every release from them until they fix this ♥♥♥♥, might even suggest to others to do the same if you continue to treat pc gamers like this, there's no way you would do this to your console gaming customers...yet here the community has to clean up after you incompetent ♥♥♥♥♥.
Good looking out, it definitely seems steam has a hand in this as well, curious to see how long it takes steam to handle this...cause this is some major ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
