Adding custom spawners
I just want a little help from someone who knows what they're doing haha. I have copied this from a guide in another post, they said this would add this mod creature to only giga spawns, giving a %20 chance for this to spawn instead of a giga.

ConfigAddNPCSpawnEntriesContainer=(NPCSpawnEntriesContainerClassString="DinoSpawnEntriesGigant_C",NPCSpawnEntries=((AnEntryName="GZSpawner",EntryWeight=1000.0,NPCsToSpawnStrings=("Godzillark_Character_BP_C"))),NPCSpawnLimits=((NPCClassString="Godzillark_Character_BP_C",MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow=0.2)))

Is this right? Only, I loaded the Volcano map and found two next to me immediately when i spawned haha, I am not certain if that was an actual giga spawn area, but I know a place in the desert where two giga always spawn, and now there was no giga but 4 godzilla haha. If it is wrong, please could somone fix it for me? I just want it to only spawn where a giga would, but maybe a 50/50 chance of one of these or a giga.

Lower the entry weight.

okay, but what to?

Maybe 1.

I'm afraid this may not work. Gigas have a limit on how many there can be on the map at once, whereas the godzillark creature doesn't have that. So where normally the game would spawn 3 or 4 gigas then stop and wait until one is killed/despawns, godzillark would not count towards that number and so the spawner would continue to spawn them over and over again, leading to massive overpopulation. I got the same thing myself when I tried replacing gigas with spinos - mountaintops had several spinos each, and the lava island on the Center was absolutely heaving with them.

You may have to edit another spawn point, such as mountain spawns, to get it to work properly.

Okay that makes sense. Would you be able to edit that for me but maybe to spawn just in the snow? I want them to be rare, but not imposssible to find so I dont minf there being a few of them, as long as they are confined to one area.

All you'd need to change is the SpawnEntriesContainerClassString: switch it from DinoSpawnEntriesGigant_C to DinoSpawnEntriesSnow_C.

You may want to reduce the MaxPercentageOfDesiredNumToAllow field too: it's a percentage where 1.0 is 100%, so at 0.2 it will make 20% of all creatures spawned in that area godzillark. That might be more common than you want.

That's brilliant thank you. I will try it now and see, I have set it to 0.05 so %5. I think that may still be a little high for such a wide spawn area, but I will see what it is like then lower it more if I need to.

Also what is the entry weight value?
🦊 Hermit Apr 28, 2018 @ 7:32am
Entry Weight is how often that creature will be picked to spawn, compared to all other creatures that can spawn in that area. By default all creatures have an entry weight of 1, which gives the spread of creatures we see in the vanilla game. If one creature's entry weight was increased to 2, then that creature would be picked to spawn twice as much as normal, making them more common. Whereas if it was reduced to 0.5, then the creature would be picked half as much, so it would become more rare.

That is great thanks. That should be all I need know to tweak it to my liking. Thank you again

This mod would let you make changes in game. Good for events.

just to make it complete, if you don't know exactly what you're doing.
You might want to take a look at the ARK Server Manager (ASM) http://arkservermanager.freeforums.net/

Even if you do not plan on running your own Server, it will still generate fully functional error free ini files to use with your Single Player game.
Especially when tampering with Spawns/Supply Crates, you'll get an easy pull down menu for the everything including the possible spawnpoints.

Oh cool thanks I will try both og those, Yeah I spent over 3000 hours on official servers, now I have kind of just retired to single player with a stupid amount of mods haha :-D But it looks like both them things will help get things just how I want them :-)

I know this may be incredibly late to post here, but how do you even configure spawns to include modded creatures?
🦊 Hermit May 21, 2021 @ 11:53am
Same way you do with vanilla creatures. You'd just need to find the modded creature's ID, either by looking on the mod's Workshop page and discussion board, or by asking the mod author.
