Its beta. Flood the PDX with bug reports and hope they manage to fix some before the launch.

My GPU is barely used while my memory is at 90% (The only game it does this btw) I feel they inflated their reports about making the game less laggy at the expense of making it more CPU intensive? I have no idea, but making my GPU be at 18% while CPU and Memory are at 90% can't be good...

It's not going to use a ton of GPU because you don't have a lot of fast-moving artifacts on the screen.

It's going to use a ton of CPU and memory because there's lots and lots and lots of behind the scenes calculations going on.
What exactly is your CPU/GPU/RAM?

Did it work in 1.3 without crashing?

Try changing between Vulkan/DX12 renderers.

Do complete clean install, uninstall the game and all the mods, delete whole settings folder:
Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis V
Then reinstall it back.

Does it crash on every country? Did you start new game or continued old save from 1.3?

Try turning off most of the graphics settings and disable 3D map.

1.3 worked without a single clash + mods

I tried changing from Vulkan/DX12 renderers.

I did a complete clean install and even verified integrity

I did not continue from a save from 1.3
They seriously have performance issues, im talking about this game being too much Memory Intensive, my PC is a gamer PC and it can't handle this game while it can handle max graphics Dying light 2, this is absurd, when paused I crash and I believe its because the game force quits when it can't handle this, Paradox needs to fix this (Im using minimum graphics btw)
I can run this game on Ryzen 5 5600U laptop (16GB RAM, no GPU) under Linux without crashing. An actual PC should have no problems.

Obviously 1.4 beta has bugs that can crash the game, I just have not seen any yet, it has been very stable.

Why I asked if this happens while playing specific countries, I have not tried China or Japan yet, there could be massive crashes happening in that area.

If the game would be totally broken, it would crash for every player same way. But it does not. I have seen very few reports about 1.4 beta crashing, there is 6 pages of suggestions and bug reports about 1.4 beta in PDX forum but none about hardware crashes.

So, to isolate the problem, it can be software or hardware.

1 - Software.
It is the mod. I can not stress this enough times, but it is usually a broken mod. Some mod you have subscribed last year on the workshop and forgot all about it, now the game updated and it messes up something.

If it is not the mod, then it is anti-virus software. You should not really run extra AV on Win11 anymore, it is not the 90s. W11 has perfectly capable Security, every other "protection suite" just makes your PC slower and can crash it.

It could also be any other small app, like the one that lights up RGB on the mouse mat, these are all terrible because they are made by hardware companies. You should not run any programs on the background unless you really-really have to. Fresh W11 is best but sometimes uninstalling all the stuff you have tested over the years helps too.

2 - Hardware. Well, you have not shared any information about your PC so this is going to be pretty random.

EU does not really use video card that much, specially once you turn off 3D map. Like I pointed out above, the game runs even on integrated graphics, the whole game is just 2D map with some menu items to click on. But it does like video memory so if you got 2GB GPU, this could be a problem.

Unlike most modern games that barely use any CPU, EU tasks CPU heavily. If you are running on higher speed in game, it will try to run as fast as your CPU can manage. This also means CPU can get very hot, much hotter it normally does, specially when you have overclocked it for some weird reason. Too hot CPU could end up with game crashing, even when modern CPUs start to slow down first.

How to fight extra heat? Well, first make sure fans are all running properly, specially the ones on CPU cooler. You may want to hoover out the dust if it has been gathering inside the case for 10 years. If the PC is 5+ years old, the thermal paste between CPU and cooler could dry out, making the PC slower and more crash-heavy.

Next is the power supply. While you are just browsing the tiktoks, blipblops or whatever the current one is, you are using almost no power. It only matters once components are pushed to their limit, like CPU could be sipping 10-20 Watts normally, but when pushed it may demand 300 Watts. Not every PSU can handle this properly, even when it is rated for some crazy high W number, as the CPU uses power from specific rail.
