Leaving after 1900 hours of game.
I have played 1900 hours to date this is my option others may see it differently.

When Eu5 came out the things that got me hooked were that you had hourly ticks which was different to Eu4 that has now changed in the 1.4 beta to daily ticks. The battles now are not as immersive or tactical as its merely the biggest stack wins all of the time. Tactical involvement now is not possible and battles can last up to 22 days i encountered i am sure others will have had longer battles.

The introduction of political influence is a Eu4 mechanic a one that was not universal liked, Eu5 at launch did not have it that was another reason why Eu5 was a more engaging game for me as it was more about what economy you can build to increase your army and to expand or grow tall now its about how to increase your political influence which is very tedious and less fun.

Game at launch had potential to be a 10 out of 10 now its turning into a game that came out over tens years ago and its looking since the 1.4 beta a game that looks dated.

Eu5 at launch had bugs and unfinished areas but was original now its a more buggy and less fun version of Eu4.

i hardly have played but have watched a lot of playthroughs, i honestly dont have a strong opinion about the ticks but the political influence mana feels like a huge step back and a completely arbitrary game mechanic that restricts the players agency and ability to make decisions. i dont mind having to make hard choices, but the mana system is just arbitrary .. want to change a law ... you cant because you dont have mana. its completely dumb.

I dont mind not being able to change a law because all your estates hate you and your legitamacy is in the tank and watever else ... these are completely valid reason (when added together) to restrict the players ability to exercise power over their disgruntled subjects.

I have held onto fleeting hope that maybe sorta of perhaps this game might be good one day ... but I'm pretty much over it now. I have no faith in the future of this game and its a shame.

ck3 is not even close to a strategy game at this point, vic 3 is a mess, eu5 looks like an impending disaster, Civ 7 is a joke .... its all just a shame that money and hubrus has ruined some of my favorite gaming franchises.
Game comes out:

Omg it's not EU4 2.0 I hate it!

Almost a year later they make it more like EU4:

Omg its just EU4 again I hate it!

Are you sure it is about the same people?

I don't think the people that said anything remotely like those things are the same people.

Edit: Jinx!
Heh. I'm just going with general forum trends, not specific people.

It seems no matter what happens, half the player base hates it.

Well, yes. Crowds are inconsistent and self-contradicting. That's why it's never ever a good idea to pander to them.
Yeah i don't understand the political influence and it's implementation. It's just not fun. All the other things the did in 1.4 i do like, especially the UI changes, just those on top of 1.3 would make me happier.
The real issue is the warfare... At the end of the day, Political Influence is just another resource—even if it does feel like the mana system from EU4.

But honestly, whether there's an hourly tick or not isn't the main problem; the issue is that the entire combat system was built around it. They removed it, and naturally, things are completely unbalanced now. So, we’re looking at another 3 or 4 major patches before the warfare is actually decent...

It’s a shame, because all that was needed were a few tweaks to unit stats. Right now, we’re stuck with a version where playing offensively is impossible; you just end up mindlessly sieging while trying to avoid running into anyone—because, obviously, 1,000 peasants can wipe out 100,000 regulars just because the latter moved 15km and lost all their morale. Lmao.
1. EU4 did not have Political Influence.

2. What kind of weird battles are you guys engaging in? Because in 1.3 right now the battle is instant on the highest speed and its all about the biggest stack winning.
you are aware you can just...refuse to update?

Things that happen when you make a game that's bad at its very core.

It's about the number of combat ticks in a battle. 1.3 had 12 ticks per day, and battles lasted a few days at most. So you'd get 36 "rounds" of combat in 3 days. In order to get the same amount in 1.4, battles would have to last 36 days, over a month. That is the problem and it's a funny paradox where in 1.4 the battles are "faster" meaning they're resolved in fewer rounds of combat, but "slower" in the sense that it takes more days. It's clear they developed hourly ticks in order to solve this glaring issue, and are now pretending like it doesn't exist.
Why not just have combat ticks vs game ticks, separate tactical from strategic.
This would only be for battles you participate in and abstract the rest?
