I won´t play EU5 until 2.0 is released, what about you?
Besides I´m really disappointed. What did we buy? An Alpha-Version of EU5? Shame on you, Paradox

Any other software house would have been flamed into oblivion for releasing a game in such a poor state, unfortunately this is Paradox and the common defense among the community is "So? It is a paradox game so it takes years for it to be good. This is totally normal, stop complaining."
Its been horrible to watch, but imo all ive been doing for the last few years is watching Paradox Interactive slide down the drain and into the sewer system.

Despite claims that everything is independent and nothing is cross used, their newer game titles all look and feel way to similar to each other, it is also so apparent that they are doing everything they can to "appeal to the masses" to get more sales, ultimately resulting in a product that neither satisfies their traditional customers nor truly brings in players who like easier themepark style experience either.

The "useless complexity" is really annoying, ive got 40 mapmodes that while look cool do practically nothing, and everything you need and ask for is either broken or promised in one of the free update cycles in the next 3 years.

I never minded their DLC policy before cos it kept content flowing years after release, but the games are releasing so buggy and barebones now that continuing to release overpriced DLC before the game is even remotely ready for a 1.0 release is taking the mick.

It is just disgusting to see games releasing and in the main/vanilla game you can already see things greyed out/incomplete as placeholders for DLC content.

As I said in my original review upon release, we are beta testers paying for the privilege.

I started downloading the game today because the free patch looked ok but then saw the ridiculous DLC that adds a tiny bit of content to one part of the world, for 1/3rd of the price of the full game? No wonder their feedbacks are negative and EU5s players typically sit under 10k.

This is no longer a nieche game developed my a small studio.

EU5 was Developed for the masses by a massive company with a huge budget.

So you cant even feel bad for them anyway, this was all their willing choice and doing

They developed EU5 to not be anything like it's predecessor. They also force you to play tall. I don't think that they tried to appeal to a larger audience, I think Johan is just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Not really that special. Bethesda gets the same treatment. Sure, some Bethesda fans think it's unacceptable how they keep releasing broken games and leave half of the fixing work to modders, but there is a huge crowd that also just says "it's Bethesda, what did you expect?"

It's really a larger industry trend. Publishers will push half broken games out of the door, then they go "we'll fix it, we'll fix it", and if they do, everything's forgiven, they might even get praise for it as if they didn't owe a functional game to people who paid for it. And as long as enough gamers keep preodering or buying on release day, they won't change that behavior, they don't need to.

Depends. Are they bringing hourly ticks back for 2.0?
Preodered this game and now I know how rulers felt, that invested into monumental buildings like Cathedral, knowing or not knowing, if they ever finish construction on the thing they invested a lot of money into

EU5 was developed "for the masses"? Really? Plus CK3 is a masterpiece in its current state
