Does this game support 1440p?
Well, as everyone knows State of Decay did not support 1440p. (I don't know if it supports 1080p or not though.) Now there's this edition which seems to be able to support higher resolutions. I heard this doesn't support 4k but can it support 1440p?

Open steam properties for game, find command line arguments, add -devmode there (just in case if some cvars are locked)

Create user.cfg systemcfg and autoexec.cfg (or you can create one and just symlink it as names of other 2 so they could all update once you edit any of them) files in game folder, put these lines in each of them:

con_restricted = 0
sv_cheatprotection = 0
sys_intromoviesduringinit = 0 ; a little bonus
sys_rendersplashscreen = 0 ;another bonus from me

;r_Driver = "DX11" ; not sure that will work but you can try to remove ; and switch between dx9 dx10 and dx11

;r_FullscreenWindow = 1 ;in case you want fullscreen windowed mode

r_Width = 2376 ;change for your display or DSR width
r_Height = 1485 ;same for height

r_ConsoleBackbufferWidth = 2376 ;not sure it needed but just in case repeat same settings as above with these values
r_ConsoleBackbufferHeight = 1485 ;same

and remove anything that follows afrer ; symbol. including symbol itself

You can just put -fullscreen in the steam launch options for the game, worked for the original upto 4k for me at least, seems to work just the same in this ver.

Does it? It's not working for me.

Worked fine in original but I'm still at 1080p in YOSE.

are you missing the minus - before fullscreen? also no space between the minus & fullscreen -fullscreen. Friend of mine is using that just fine with his 4k montior.

This worked a treat for me, thanks Voodooman.

Oh wait, im having shadow problems. lots of flickering and mini map is not in the correct position :)
Drunk Monkey Apr 28, 2015 @ 11:30am
Neither are working for me. Looks like r_width and r_height don't work putting them in cvars either.

undead labs are lazy, instead of making dynamic placement and scalind of UI elements they going shorcut route and making positions just absolute to native resolution on console which is 1080 p.
So the only thing you can do about it - start a thead and demand 4k support from them, if that will get enough of attention this could probably happen, if only undead will be able to fight their laziness.

Oh wait Seams like shadows could be using resolution of screen or depth buffer you cout try to remove last 2 lines with console depth resolution, could fix shadows and UI, but im not sure.

did you try to do other things i mentioned like setting -devmode agrument, and putting other cvars?
Drunk Monkey Apr 28, 2015 @ 12:39pm
Yeah I tried those. Finally got it to work by copying over the cvars from SoD and using r_height and r_width in the config directory. I also forgot to change graphic spec once to make it work.

its does not offer native support for ppl with 1440p and 4k monitors, no antialiasing options either, no wonder it looks so ♥♥♥♥, hang on, im gonna wait another 1 year for the 1440p/4k version so I dont get ripped off like everyone else....
The Rarest Pepe Apr 28, 2015 @ 2:10pm
Lol, they remastered it and actually didn't put anything higher than 1080p in?

And they expect people to pay £15/£22 when we can get higher (via -fullscreen) in the original. This is quite possibly the most shameless remaster thus far.
Goat Apr 28, 2015 @ 2:30pm
remastered into 1080p lol i like how they try to make that sound like an actual high end gaming standard well newsflash 1995 called they want their resolution back
linas.warrior Apr 28, 2015 @ 3:11pm
There will be Year-Two Edition with 1440p support, and Year-Three Edition will support up to 4K resolution :D

I can kinda understand 4k.. kind of.... But no 1440p is insane. Glad you can change it in the game files though. are the graphics any better? Like any major tweaks?
