FIXED: Game downloads 0 bytes. Steam says it is installed

This problem has been fixed.

I tried to download the game repeatedly after launch, but Steam keeps downloading it instantly (zero bytes) and when I click the "Play" button I receive the error message: "Failed to start game (missing executable)."

I installed the Head Start version of "Sword Coast Legends" without problem on my 2009 Mac Pro and uninstalled it this night so I could install the new version cleanly. But it keeps failing to download while insisting it is installed.

I've searched for half an hour online for fixes but nothing on the Steam support works at all. (I tried, for example, deleting the appcache directory for Steam, and verifying the integrity of the file download.)

I am running OS X El Capitan (v. 10.11), 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 16 GB RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 graphics card.

In what language do you download it ? .. Because only english works @ the moment ....

Not a Mac person, and I appologize if some of these seem patronizing, but.. Have you closed and reopened Steam? Do you have at least ~10GB free on the drive Steam is installed on? Have you tried verifying the games cache? Not sure if this works on a Mac, but can you open a browser and go to steam://install/325600/

Yes. I also rebooted my operating system and cleared Steam's "appcache" folder.

420.88 GB free.

I've tried twice with different results each time. The first time, the option of verifying the cache was grayed out, which made sense as zero bytes had been installed.

I messed around further and repeatedly tried to install it and then, as it kept only installing nothing, I would tell Steam to "delete" the local files so I could try again. After doing this a bit, I tried again to verify the cache. This time the option wasn't grayed out, but in a second after I selected the option Steam told me all the non-existent files verified.

It does work on a Mac, but the same installation problem just occurred again -- instant install of nothing and then Steam can't find the executable when it tries to launch the game.

Same issue, with Linux . Gift copy. Friend here also has same issue but on Mac, gifted copy.

Looks like a steam problem then, rather than a game problem.

My copy is also a gift. It seems the common thread is gifted copies of the game.

I'm seeing this too, and my copy was also transferred from someone who bought a 4-pack.
