Stuttering when G-Sync is turned On
Hi, I recently found the source of most of my stutters on my system when gaming, I'll use Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Assassin's Creed Shadows as an example:

In both of these games if G-Sync is turned on the stutters are very noticeable and very frequent (one every few seconds), not while standing still but when traversing the world, moving the camera or doing anything, really.
This happens with G-Sync + V-Sync On in the NVCP and Off/On in-game, G-Sync On + V-Sync Off in the NVCP and Off/On in-game. These stutters completely disappear as soon as I turn Off G-Sync on my monitor and regardless of the V-Sync option in-game or in the NVCP.

It has to be noted that this does not happen for every game. Unleashed Recompiled, Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Resident Evil 5/6 and so on with G-Sync On do not have these stutters.

The easiest solution would be to move on and play without G-Sync, problem is that if I don't have G-Sync On and play with Frame Generation I get Screen tearing, Unfortunately.
Do you guys experience stuttering when playing with G-Sync?

These are my Specs:

LG UltraGear 27GS75Q
ASUS TUF Gaming B460 Plus
GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 WINDFORCE OC V2 12GB
Intel Core i5 10400F 6 Core 12 Thread 2.90GHz
Crucial P2 NVMe 1TB + Samsung 870 QVO SSD 2TB
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 32GB 3600Mhz
Cooler Master MWE 600 WHITE 230V V2

Thanks.

Hey same issue: RTX 5090 rzyen 9950x3d and the game has severe stutter issues I assume it has to do something with nvidias drivers but idk no matter what I tried it never stoped (I even went 640p 30 fps lock kekw)
The "hotfix" they released introduced massive stutters and freezes
Not for me, still runs exactly the same as it did before the update.

yesterday I did a clean install of windows 11 pro and now most of the stuttering are gone with G-Sync On, buuuut Ubisoft released a hotfix that introduces heavy stuttering when interacting with doors, looting chests and basically every other interaction with Y/∆ . At this point I'm thinking it's just the game or the drivers that are faulty

Driver and Games doesnt work the same for every person/or on every system

i got 0 problems since i started playing shadows....

But you know it better?
Then explain how Software/OS/driver and games work together
and how is it possible that every System got the same Problems / or not
why got so many ppls diff problems? (or no problems at all)
If you know a little bit about PCs you should know that lol

You can try to install Nvidia 572.47 (i think you used the actual driver?)
i play since i bought the game with this version and got 0 problems
(im still on Win10 22H2 19045. can make a diff)

in indiana Jones (and other games) that was a fix for a lot of problems (using a older Nvidia driver)

No Frame Generation on my RTX 3060 Ti card but no stuttering with G-Sync turned on either (144 Hz on monitor, 50-60 FPS in game).

I really don't want to mess around with the drivers just for one game, since it seems like other people are having stuttering issues as well I'm just putting the game down for the time being until some updates fix the situation or I find a solution. Also, windows 10 instead of 11 might play a big role in all of this

The best solution for me is to focus on 1/2 Vsync with Nvidia Inspector.
This eliminates stuttering completely (90 fps on a 180 Hz monitor because of 1/2 Vsync).
If I try to cap the fps otherwise, it stutters no matter what I do.

I also use Special K so that menus, maps, and cutscenes also run at 90 fps.

Gsync is disabled. i play with xbox one windows controller.

Asus TUF Gaming VG3A 180 Hz
i7-13700KF
Palit RTX 4080 with 572.70 driver
Samsung 980 Pro NVMe 2 TB
32 GB DDR5 6000 MHz

I'm telling you, nothing about that makes sense :-\

Driver-forced 1/2 refresh VSYNC is pure evil. You can accomplish the same thing with a framerate limiter without the latency and without causing G-Sync to stop working.

G-Sync only works for 1:1 refresh VSYNC, it sometimes works with VSYNC=Off (as long as you're below refresh rate). G-Sync never works with 1/2, 1/3 or 1/4 refresh VSYNC.

I can almost guarantee you, just update Special K, disable any VSYNC-related overrides you've made in your driver, turn G-Sync back on, and reset SK's INI and you're golden.

Interesting combination for a machine as powerful as yours.

I don't understand it either. But it is what it is.

With these settings, I always get 90 fps and absolutely no stuttering.
With all other fps cap options, the game runs like crap. It might not make sense, but it works.
Hey, yes, I have the same problem with G Sync, but strangely enough, it only started today. Before that, it worked without any problems. And when I look at your specs, I have the same monitor, whether that has anything to do with it, I don't know because I don't have any problems in other games.

I'm putting all of my bets on this, it's the game's fault. As I said above, I'll not hold my breath on this one and wait a little longer for some improvements
it might have to do with the update corrupted the save file, because the stutter is gone when i start a new game from beginning. No more hitches when interact with doors lights and chests. But i comes back if i load my original save. i also tried to download a end-game save from other player on the internet. That one stutters too! Can anyone also try starting a new game to see if it works?

Unfortunately, the stutter issue when interacting following Hotfix 1.0.1 will start again once you unlock the first Kakurega, this triggers it. When you reach the mission where you need to guard Kakurega, the stutters appear immediately after that.

The issue is official and only the development team can fix the regression they caused.
