To those saying that 40k or 50k players is good...
...do some math.

The game reportedly had a budget of ~300 million USD, give or take, but lets settle with that amount for the sake of it.

If the game needs to break even, it would need to sell ~4.28 million copies for the base price, or ~3.33 million copies for the deluxe edition. This is not taking into account like cuts from publishers and platforms, this is the amount needed at raw price/value per copy.

Also, do take into account that while the initial sales would make it look like the whole 'go woke go...top of the sales charts!' bulls***, that is just the first twenty-four hours. Give at least a week after the game's launch before going into that nonsense.

Edit: Alright, lemme put it this way...

Ubisoft did recently claim they have over a million players for Shadows.

This however doesn't cover actual sales, which could easily be hampered due to the game being on varying subscription passes (Game Pass, Ubislop+, etc). Steamdb at least kind of confirms how many people ended up buying it, but still leaving a lot of speculation of how many actually bought it because again, the game would need to sell several million copies to try and break even, with the platform/publisher cuts taking place.

Given how much the game pissed everyone off, I highly doubt it'll come close to getting the required amount

for someone doing math you don't seem to taking into account the fact that the game is on also on ubi store, epic store, consoles, and ubisoft+

This game is available on half a dozen other platforms as well.

What effect do the player numbers have on the game that's already been released? None. So why do people care so much about the number of players in a single player game?

There's people in this exact forum saying veilguard sold well, even after ea called it a flop

They'll just tell themselves millions are playing on consoles forever
No one cares man.

Because ♥♥♥♥♥♥ games failing hard force devs to make better games in the future. Some people would prefer quality games to be created, unlike those satisfied by wallowing in slop.

Do the math: it doesn't take into account people who have played the game on different platforms. Your thinking isn't as "checkmate" as you think

I would if those numbers were available/easily found, which to my knowledge, aren't.

right, that's why your math fails and this thread is pointless

until ubi releases the sale numbers, as public companies are obligated to

Ubisoft were reporting over 1 million players in under 24 hours. I'd say they're happy. OP is free to remain frustrated if he wants to, some people just wanna live that way.

When you have an unknown number in math you don’t ignore it, it means you can’t actually solve the equation.
You cucks think players all on PC. Give your heads a shake.
