I hate to say it but the haters were right, Yasuke adds very little for how annoying he is.
He feels like a low effort attempt for adding some templars to the feudal japan.
That being said his revenge at the end of the game isnt exactly bad, it just doesnt justify having him around the entire game.
Also someone at Ubisoft apparently was so blown away by the fact that they made a african slave MVP of feudal japan that they completely forgot to add any Isu artefacts or something like a outside of animus backstory!

Odyssey and Valhalla barely had an out of Animus backstory. It's something Ubisoft has been scaling back through the whole series.

It is weird that it's apparently completely gone, but that kind of was the momentum they were on.

For real? Valhalla literally starts with standing at Eivor´s grave site in America and ends with Basim being outside of the Animus! Which version of Valhalla did you play???
You might be right about Odyssey tho, I cant remember maybe Layla meeting with Alexios to receive the spear of Leonidas was part of the Atlantis DLC, I honestly dont know excactly.

I never finished Valhalla. I got bored with it.

I think you're right about Odyssey though. Odyssey has an animus subplot but it only shows its head a few times once you're in the past.

No he just described why Yasuke is black. Simple, put a black man in a mediocre game and noone can criticize the game anymore without ending up being racist.

Context matters a lot.

They race swapped a Japanese character out. If we got a Black Panther game and the main character was a Japanese character people would complain just as much.
Also if we got an European character as MC for a Japanese AC game.

Ubisoft is awesome with representation. I've played video games for decades but AC Origins and Mirage are (I believe) the first games where I could play as arabs (my ancestry is Palestinian). I never thought I'd ever see a game with an arab protagonist. I'm used to arabs just being NPC terrorist tropes.

A color of a person's skin has no more relevance than the color of a person's hair or eyes. Can you imagine believing all people with blue eyes were less than those with brown eyes? People would think you were nuts and really the same should be true about skin color.

Exactly- Ubisoft should be perceived as company for indian and African market. Just like Bollywood and Nollywood.
