Stuttering when G-Sync is turned On
Hi, I recently found the source of most of my stutters on my system when gaming, I'll use Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Assassin's Creed Shadows as an example:

In both of these games if G-Sync is turned on the stutters are very noticeable and very frequent (one every few seconds), not while standing still but when traversing the world, moving the camera or doing anything, really.
This happens with G-Sync + V-Sync On in the NVCP and Off/On in-game, G-Sync On + V-Sync Off in the NVCP and Off/On in-game. These stutters completely disappear as soon as I turn Off G-Sync on my monitor and regardless of the V-Sync option in-game or in the NVCP.

It has to be noted that this does not happen for every game. Unleashed Recompiled, Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Resident Evil 5/6 and so on with G-Sync On do not have these stutters.

The easiest solution would be to move on and play without G-Sync, problem is that if I don't have G-Sync On and play with Frame Generation I get Screen tearing, Unfortunately.
Do you guys experience stuttering when playing with G-Sync?

These are my Specs:

LG UltraGear 27GS75Q
ASUS TUF Gaming B460 Plus
GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4070 WINDFORCE OC V2 12GB
Intel Core i5 10400F 6 Core 12 Thread 2.90GHz
Crucial P2 NVMe 1TB + Samsung 870 QVO SSD 2TB
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 32GB 3600Mhz
Cooler Master MWE 600 WHITE 230V V2

Thanks.

i do experience stuttering with framegen, but without it i only get about 50 - 60 fps because of optimization

In my case framegen does not introduce stuttering when G-sync is off but I do get screen tearing. do you have G-sync/Free-Sync on?
I play with DLAA in 4k Max with FG + Gsync, Vsync off.
No problems at all (same with DLSS4 qual.)
Game runs Butter smooth.

(Global in NVCP Vsync off, Gsync on for All games)

With Gsync and Vsync on you get stutter issues.
Thats pretty normal bc its not good

Got not the newest Nvidia driver
I think 572.47

I see, so G-Sync is not supposed to be the main culprit, I wonder what that is then

global in NVCP = ?

In Nvidia Control panel you can turn some settings on and off for all games.
1 option: you add the game you play and just turn "Gsync" or something on for 1 game.
2 option: you can turn settings on or off for ALL games. (Global-settings)
With option 2 you dont have turn turn it on or off ingame. NVCP did that on startup (for all games you start)

Did you try to turn Gsync completly off?
Restart PC. (+ Vsync off)
Turn it back on

And do it in NVCP for AC shadows.
Edit: And Look that Vsync is turned off 100% ingame

2. Option i would try
If you got the newest driver, downgrade to a another driver.

3. Go to reddit and search for stutter issues + Gsync.

I never got problems with FG/DLSS or Gsync luckily
But i mostly dont Update my drivers. ( only if there is a new DLSS Version or something. And only if i got enough time to fix stuff if the driver did something bad)

Yes, to be sure every time I changed any G-sync setting I restarted my pc. I think downgrading might be worth a try, tho

Here if you got still problems:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/1jbyd7r/50_series_vsync_gsync_stuttering/
Some ppls fix this Problem with diff settings.

In my case i only get problems with Vsync on.
Its interesting what other ppls got.
Some turn Vsync on (+Gsync) and Cap FPS.
That doesnt work for me.
If i turn Vsync on (with Gsync) i got stutter issues, screen tearing and all that stuff

You can use this, I guarantee if you enable the framerate limiter it will fix your problems.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/3159330/discussions/0/612032512885050246/

By default, it'll select the correct framerate limit for G-Sync to prevent VSYNC from activating. But you'll probably want to set the framerate even lower to get perfect framepacing.

It's quite likely this will solve your stutter problems in other games as well.

There's some really bad advice in this thread about forcing VSYNC globally in the NVIDIA driver, don't do that.

Leave that set to Application Controlled, and simply use a framerate limiter in all games. Then you don't get VSYNC latency and also don't get tearing, it's the correct way to use G-Sync.

Why should it be bad?
I use Gsync since over 6 years and never got problems.
Not with 1440P 165Hz and not with 4k 120 Hz with 1080ti, 3080ti and 4090

Friend do the same and never got problems

Thanks for the help guys, no matter what I try, G-sync does nothing but introduce stutters. I'll just keep it Off for the time being

What's your framerate?

Edit:

It seems as if Kaldaien has the same idea that I'm having. Look at his suggestion.
