if you are a fan of the classic AC games before the RPG trilogy (origins-odyssey-valhalla) then mirage is a good choice. if you are a fan of origins or others from the Layla arch, then shadows is more your speed
Yup. Shadows is better. The great technical upgrades to the Anvil engine has a lot to do with that but I may be also be biased because I'm a sucker for movies and games set in feudal Japan era.
Yeah HELL no. Mirage is way better. Valhalla is the worst AC game ever made. It's literally the only one I never beat because it's so bad. Valhalla is one of the most boring games I've ever played.
I completely agree. I seriously never understood all the hate for mirage. I feel like it was only hated because it wasn't an RPG and that's the only reason why. It's the only assassin's Creed game that felt like the old games before the RPG copy paste formula was invented. I don't think any of the RPGs are better than the originals. I feel like all the people that hated mirage was the generation that never got to experience the original assassin's Creed games and they probably started with the RPGs. I only have a dislike towards the RPGs just because of how boring they can be. At least with mirage the game constantly has a good pace. With the RPGs everything's based on a recommended level. And the issue with that is that it forces you to do side quests because of it. Because there's no other way to level up to reach the recommended level to continue the story. I hate doing the side quests in the assassin's Creed RPGs because they're so grueling and each one of them to me feels like a chore. I think side quests should just be exactly that, side quests.... Which in every other video game ever made is always optional. If I could just keep going with the flow of the main story I would like the RPGs a little bit more. Plus let's talk about the combat. People complain that the combat was too simple and the other games because of how easy it was to kill people. Truth is though you're an ASSASSIN. you should have incredible martial art skills and weapon mastery. They want from amazing animations encounters to basically hack and slash and somehow people think that's better. That's one of the things that I felt was so refreshing about mirage. I think it's balanced between the old and the new. But I feel like one in a thousand because I am one of the few where mirage ended up being one of my favorites out of the entire franchise. Not to mention it's the only one in a very long time that compares itself to the original Creed. Where the hidden blade required a missing finger. Where the hood was a symbol. And the white and red color scheme was iconic. All the other games you're inducted into the Creed in some extension of it. Except for original because... It's the origin. The copy paste formula will always be my least choice when it comes to choosing to play any of the games.
Mirage sucks because it has the worst combat of any AC game. Just gawd awful bad. Basim was the more boring AC protagonist of all time too, just no personality. It's not like you hate him you just don't care
And I'm 65 and have played all the AC games .... so much for your theory. Here is my theory, most of the complainers are 35 - 45 and they first played AC games when still in high school and see the old games with rose colored glasses, Just like with music when people get older they like the music they heard in the teens and early 20's ..... same goes for video games.
This. Mirage is worth skipping.
AC Mirage may only be 30 hours but its actually good content.
AC Shadows is 100 hours of copy paste repeat the same crap over and over again. With terrible voice acting.
AC Shadows is arguably the best game in the series so far
clear choice
Double This. Mirage wasn´t that good. It´s okay but there are some better AC Games
Mirage, I tried as well, but didn't care for, like pretty much all Ubisoft games since Black Flag.
- AC Odyssey is the safer bet for your first AC if you aren't Stealth obsessed, and some love for melee combats, some stealth, and open world games.
- AC Black Flag is the safer bet for your first AC if you focus more on Stealth plus a very open world.
For pure Stealth fan, I don't know what first AC would be the best.
