Some of them were Steam day-one releases. Could you look up which ones and compare the numbers?
That's cause investors and executives, just like some of these chuds, have unrealistically high expectations. Not every movie will reach Avengers-level box office, that doesn't mean it's a flop.
1. We Owned the Chuds!
2. It's Not that Bad, really! <-- you are here
3. Well, at least I enjoy it! And thats all that matters!
4. Ubisoft fires a ton of blue-haired workers.
and i won't attack AC on the woke stuff, it's up to you to see if you like it or not, i can say something nobody can tell is a lie, that serie is stale. the game mechanics are feeling old, it's repetitive as heck, it's pure ubisoft UI (and it's not a compliment). the main reason this game will underperform in the eyes of shareholders, is because it's too late in it's gameplay. we're not in 2015 anymore.
Shadow only had 41k for brand new game?? Even if you multiply it by 10 it's still embarrassing for AAA game with decade long franchise
Not to mention Wukong had a peak 2.4M on steam
They were released 6+ and 7+ years ago. Back then steam (and its sales) was still very much considered secondary to consoles when it came to games that were also released on console.
This was also years before the covid boom of gaming. The game 4th on the list, Black Flag,m was released 12 years ago and it still had 40% of the peak this game does.
Now compare this to Rise of the Ronin that has a 12k peak despite almost noone knowing the game exists and it having mixed rating because of big performance issues. It also has a fraction of the development cost.
This simply shows how disconnected big companies have got. Nobody asks gamers anymore what they want, and it shows.
