As for Ys: Memories of Celceta (Ys IV remake)... Well, I guess we'll see if XSEED is willing to do any actual porting at some point. They've been pretty adamant about not having the resources to do it, but it kind of seems like they've loosened their stance on that lately. Keep buying Ys games on PC and maybe it'll happen. :P
That, and Ys V is kinda crappy compared to the rest of the series.
Xseed only has 1 programmer and while Sara is definitely amazing, it's likely too much to be asking her to program a port from scratch since console coding and PC coding are vastly different things. And the port of Akiba's Trip to PC is being done by the original dev. Adding new features isn't hard, especially when Sara has code from other games to refer to (VI is the same engine and Oath and Origin)
Ys V is pretty bad, and plays more like a sequel to Lagoon than a Ys game. Has a fan translation if you're curious enough, PS2 version by Taito also isn't worth talking about, but still somehow better than the SFC game. Will probably get a remake someday.
Proper PC ports simply don't exist, and XSEED can't just make them magically appear from thin air. So you'll have to find a way to play IV (Celceta if you can, since it's the "canon" one), and maybe V (For Terra, if nothing else) on your own.
Speaking of 4 there is a pc version of Celceta actually, it's just that-
A: Apparently it's not very good, it wasn't made by Falcom themselves but rather a Chinese company named Joyoland they partner with in the region.
B: Said Joyoland has expressed an interest in doing their own western release of the game. That was almost two years ago and there hasn't been any news since so I've got no idea what's going on there.
Are you sure you don't mean Ys VII there? I know there was a chinese PC version of VII. If Celceta got one too, thats the first I've heard of it.

So like are the old versions of IV actually any good, as a Vita owner I've played (and nearly platinumed) Memories of Celceta, so Im not too bothered about the plot side of it, since that replaces the two versions of IV as the canonical story, but just wondering if either of them are actually GOOD games to play.
I figure a Ys 5 remake is pretty much guarateed at somepoint, everything else has been refreshed at this point. Though the new one isn't that, I believe. Im out of touch, lately I'm more interested in whether or not someone is going to localize Tokyo Xanadu, cause that looks pretty spiffy 8v

I don't care if a Y's game is crappy..still want to see them released on here possibly.
We've been supporting Falcom/Xseed since Oath in Felghana was released on Steam a few years ago. It's time for us to finally receive the "modern" Ys games.
