Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars FAQ
Hello Explorers,

Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars has a small but active community on this forum. You can ask questions about the game here and people will answer. You can also find others to play multiplayer matches with and information about mods in the Steam Workshop. I wrote this FAQ to update the original, but unlike the author of the original, I am not affiliated with Wargaming or NGD Studios. I am a modder who has been around since the game's release and a volunteer from the MoO community. So let's get started!

  1. How much is the Standard Edition of Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars?
    a. The Standard edition is $24.99 (regional pricing varies). On sale it has been available in the past for up to 85% off ($3.74). Historically this game has gone on sale at least twice per year, typically as a part of larger Steam sales.
    b. The Collector’s Edition is $34.99 (regional pricing varies). It typically goes on sale alongside the Standard Edition.

  2. What is in the Collector’s Edition compared to the Standard Edition?
    a. The Standard Edition just has Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars
    b. The Collector´s Edition has Master of Orion 1, 2, 3, the Terran Khanate race, the game Soundtrack & Score (Score and Revenge of Antaras DLC soundtrack not included in Steam version: only GOG version), and the Art Book.

  3. What platforms is it available for?
    a. Windows, Mac OSX, & SteamOS + Linux

  4. What is the development status of the game?
Master of Orion: Conquer the Stars was released on August 25, 2016. One DLC was published following its release, and official development and support ended in early 2017. Since the end of official development, the community has continued development of the game through mods available in the Steam Workshop. Most notably, since the latest official version of the game still contains a lot of bugs, the Unofficial Code Patch mod developed by WhatIsSol is highly recommended for all players as a stability, bugfix, and feature update to the game.

  5. How do I install the Unofficial Code Patch (UCP)?
UCP is available in the Steam Workshop:
    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1109736522
To install a workshop mod, you must click the Subscribe button on the mod page. For most mods, this is the only step required, but UCP makes more significant changes to the game's code and requires its own installer. Please see the installation guide:
    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2946034255

  6. Where is the game manual?
You can view the official manual here. A pdf copy of the manual is also available in the Master of Orion install folder inside the Manuals folder. You can also access it on the Steam Library page under Additional Content along with the collector's edition soundtrack.

  7. Where is the art book that comes with the collector's edition?
It is in the Master of Orion install directory. To access this, right click on Master of Orion in your Steam Library, and under Manage select Browse local files. The art book is inside the Art Book folder

  9. How can I find other players for a multiplayer match?
Create a post in this forum and ask! Someone will point you in the right direction. To play a multiplayer match, you must all be using the same game version and set of mods. Cross-platform multiplayer between the Steam and other versions of the game is not supported.

The remaining questions are from the original FAQ but are likely not so frequently asked these days.

  10. How do I create a Wargaming.net Account?
