More languages than english?
Will the game have more languages?. Reus did have a good diversity.

I just did a word count, and the game currently contains about 240.000 words, which is (very roughly) about the same amount as a 600-page novel. Translating that amount of text is really expensive, so unfortunately unlikely to be worth the investment. We'd really love to, and have tried to organise it, but we simply don't think it'd work out :(

Hi everyone. Renowned Explorers is a game that contains lots of story. Unfortunately that means there is a lot of translation work to do to add in a new language. This is by no means a small job, which is why we're releasing with English only.

However it's great to know which languages people would like to see supported, so that we know which translations to focus on if we bring Renowned Explorers to new languages.

We tried to focus the story telling on visuals and character emotion and put the important text in the choices only. This means you can play the game without reading all of the text, but some knowledge of English is definitely important in this first version.

Glad to hear a Developer. There is people who enjoy(or need) to play a game in his mother language. It's reasonable that the game will release only in English, but please, think on translate the game on other languages.

+1 for Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese.

Hi,

I worked hard in the Reus translation into Spanish via Crowdin.

It was a great experience, and let us, the players, enjoy the game in our languages.

I hope you let us cooperate in a similar way with RE:IS :)

Yeah, pretty much; English is the lingua franca of video gaming. Consider it an opportunity to learn a new language, like many of us did for whom English is not our native language.

Translations help any product to reach a bigger range of people. Nobody is gonna learn a language just to play videogames.

That's demonstrably untrue, but okay. I'm sure translations are forthcoming for you people who can't be bothered to learn some basic English, but keep in mind this isn't exactly a AAA studio.

Just wanted to drop in and say: we don't expect anybody to learn a language just to play our game. We are aware that you need some knowledge of English to play our game, which we don't like. We want to reach a bigger audience, but like I said before: translating this game will be a tough challenge. We will be sure to let you know here as soon as we have plans for that.

I am French, so sorry for my limited english. I just wanted to say that the english used in RE:IS is not very complicated. Yes, there is a lot of text and i would be glad if the game is translated to french, but it is quite easy to understand most of the time. It is not Sunless Sea !

PS : thanks for this great game ! A bit too hard, but great. :)

I'd say that best thing that you can do is provide convenient way for creating fan translations and using as mods (maybe even through Steam Workshop).
Entusiasts (if there will be enough of them) probably will find the way to extract and put texts in anyway, but you can speed it up and presumably win from it.
